This time, it’s me who’s rolling their eyes. “Come on, Ains. We’ll take Saylor’s car. It’s in the garage.”
Ainsley kisses Saylor’s cheek, then stands. “Don’t do it, Sassy.”
I turn to watch them. Ainsley appears to be scolding Saylor, and I almost laugh. “Don’t do what?”
Both girls turn to me. Saylor is wearing a troubling grin, and Ainsley is scowling. If anyone else walked in right now they’d probably mix them up based on their facial expressions alone.
“Anything,” Ainsley says, then heads toward the garage.
I hitch one brow in Saylor’s direction, but she shrugs and walks to the window.
“Stay inside,” I say again. Suddenly I’m nervous. But not for Saylor. For the photographers, because she’s very visibly plotting against them.
Shit. I pick up my pace and jog to the car. The sooner I leave, the sooner I can get back.
CHAPTER24
SAYLOR
“Sass? You okay?” Grady asks. He hates FaceTime, but he always answers.
“Oh yeah.I’mfine.”
He pinches the bridge of his nose, and I can’t stop my lips from curling up. “Sass. What the hell are you doing?”
Instead of answering, I prop my phone up against the window. It takes a few seconds for the lighting to adjust, but I hear his low curse when it does.
“How long have they been out there?” he groans.
I shrug, even though he can’t see me because the camera is pointed out. I’m too busy pulling up my Home app on my iPad. “Not sure,” I finally answer.
“Where’s Dante?”
I chuckle. “He’s on his way to your house to get Lena and Poppy.”
“He left you there alone? With those assholes outside?”
Annoyed, I pick up my phone again, turn the camera to face me, and scowl at him. “I was not going back out there. And I’m not his possession to leave behind. I’m a person, Grady.”
“Don’t start this shit…” His face falls when he realizes what I’m up to. “Sassy Greer, do not do it.”
That makes me laugh out loud. “So, counselor.”
“I’m not a practicing lawyer anymore, Sass.”
“You are. You do all my contracts.”
“One contract a year does not make me a lawyer.” Grady gets super growly when he’s frustrated, and I can’t control my smile when he does.
“So,” I say over him, “I’ve already told them to get off my property. I even recorded myself doing it. I also warned them that it’s almost game time and they need to stay off my property. That means I’m covered, right?”
“Goddamn it, Sassy.” My stomach cramps from holding in my laughter. Grady jumps around his house, grabbing keys and shoes. “It depends on what you’re doing.” He looks away from the phone, then turns back to me. “Dante’s here. Do not do anything until we get there.”
“I can’t guarantee that, big guy. As long as I’ve warned them…”
“Jesus. Don’t shoot anyone,” he demands before walking outside. “We’ll be there soon.”
“You might want to wear a raincoat.” I chuckle and toss my phone on the bed.
