It was unlocked?

Oh fuck.

“What the hell was that?” I hiss, detaching myself from him hastily.

Apollo is in no rush to cover up, still leaning back on the hood of the car with his cock out as he watches me scramble. “That was a good fuck.”

“You heard him coming in,” I accuse, tugging my pants back on and my shirt down. “You saw him open the door, it was right in your view! Why did you keep going?”

“It was barely a second, and he needed to see it.”

“What?” I burst out, almost flinching. “Why would you say that? Leon and I are friends, I told you that.Justfriends.”

Apollo shakes his head, getting up and grabbing his boxers to slide back on. “You didn’t see how he looked at you while you were holding his sons, micina. He may not admit it to himself, but he saw potential there. I don’t blame him. You’re everything an intelligent man could want, but you’re not an option for him. No matter what happens to his marriage.”

I don’t doubt that Apollo thinks he saw interest on Leon’s face directed toward me at some point, but I don’t think he interpreted it correctly. Leon and I agreed, we don’t see each other that way. But wait…

“What do you mean no matter what happens to his marriage? What do you know that I don’t?”

He considers my question. “Nothing that I can tell you.”

“We’re keeping secrets now?” I ask, sounding hurt. “What happened to honesty and trust? Or does that only apply to me? Some do as I say not as I do bullshit?”

“It’s not my secret to tell,” he replies, reaching for me. I step back on instinct, rejecting whatever comfort he’s attempting to give.

“Rayna,” Apollo implores. Stepping closer, he doesn’t let me escape his grasp this time. His big hands surround my face, and he forces our gazes to connect. “My father doesn’t even know yet. No one knows, and he trusted me to keep his business quiet for now. If he wants you to know, he’ll tell you. Until he’s ready to speak up, I’m keeping his trust.”

“Fine,” I mutter. If Dante doesn’t know, I shouldn’t expect to be confided in either. “But don’t pull that shit again. I don’t care what you think you saw, you shouldn’t have done that to him. His wife doesn’t even talk to him, or hug him, or physically connect with him at all and you just rubbed our intimacy in his face as some possessive dickhead warning. It wasmean.”

“I’ll speak with him.” My future husband sighs, his thumbs brushing over the tops of my cheeks. “Stop being upset with me, I don’t like it when it’s genuine.”

“Then don’t do things to genuinely upset me,” I reply with a grumble. “You don’t need to claim me like that, you know? The ring on my finger already did that. I’m not going anywhere.”

“Even if he was an option?”

“Insecurity doesn’t become you,” I huff, eyes rolling up at him. “But yes, even if he was an option, I wouldn’t back out now. We’re doing this, Apollo.”

A glint of desire flashes in his eyes. “Now I want to fuck you again.”

“Well, too bad,” I tell him, pulling away. “Go apologize to your brother, and I’ll consider letting you have me again tonight.”

“I could always justtakeyou.”

I lift a smooth brow. “What fruit am I allergic to again?”

“Don’t remind me,” he warns, a hint of danger in his tone. “I’m still pissed at you for not divulging that.”

My arms cross over my chest. “Well, the faster you talk to Leon, the faster you can kiwi-proof the house and plant unnecessary EpiPens all around.”

“Sei unarompipalle,” he grumbles.

“Wanna translate that?”

“You’re a pain in the ass.”

A giggle bursts out of me. “Right back at you, darling.”
