Her heart squeezed up into her throat.

This man.

She pulled his mouth to hers as she finally took everything he could give. Pleasure shivered through her body, pulsing stronger each time she lifted and dropped down. She clung to him, circling her hips and grinding into him as stars danced behind her eyes.

He tore his mouth from hers, dipping his head and sucking on her nipple. She groaned, raking her nails over the hard planes of his back, feeling him shudder beneath her. Another orgasm was uncoiling deep inside her.

How is this happening?

Nothing could ever compare. There was sex, then there was this. He thrust his hips up to meet her. Pleasure arced through her, fracturing into spinning vortexes as his fingers rubbed against her clitoris. It was too much. It wasn’t enough. Her breath was frantic as she rode him, the release rushing unstoppably towards her.

‘Jamie, I’m going to come!’

He lightly bit on her nipple and the orgasm slammed into her like a freight train, knocking out her breath. Convulsing waves of pleasure collided inside her, shot through with rushes of light as he thrust up.

He cried her name, his body shaking as his own climax consumed him. She held tight to him, her breathing ragged, her vision gone. There was only him.

She floated back down to earth, his arms clasped around her. He was trembling. She stroked his back, soothing him as she tried and failed to process what had just happened.

It can wait.

Right now, she needed to make sure he was okay. He was slumped under her as if completely spent. She eased herself up and pulled off the condom. He looked up and she kissed him.

‘I’m just going to get rid of this.’

He held on as if reluctant to let her go.

‘I’ll be back. I promise.’ She kissed him again. ‘Get into bed.’

She slipped out and went to the bathroom, disposing of the condom and staring at her reflection in the mirror. She looked tousled and alive, her cheeks pink and her lips swollen. Joy burst out of her in a giggle and she skipped back to his room. He was lying in bed on his side, the covers open for her. She dived in and he held her so tightly she could hardly breathe. She wrapped her arms and legs around him, feeling his heat, hearing the thud of his heartbeat. She had so much she wanted to say, but suddenly the words were lost under a wave of tiredness. She closed her eyes, fighting to stay afloat, before sinking into sleep with a sigh.

Jamie stared at the ceiling as the early morning light moved across the ridges of Artex. Last night he’d dropped into a dreamless sleep, only to wake a couple of hours later. Sam had gone. The room was the same as it had always been. The sounds of his mother’s rhythmic snores still percolated through the far wall, but everything inside him had changed.

Had it really happened?

The experience seemed so cataclysmically unreal he’d turned on the light, searching for evidence he hadn’t lost his mind. On the floor were his jeans, the front still damp from his first embarrassment, and an empty condom wrapper.

Christ.

No matter how far up the river of denial he was frantically paddling, ithadhappened. He’d had sex. With Sam. Each time he blinked, a new memory shocked through him to squeeze his heart and swell his cock. It was one thing to read about sex in a book or see it on screen. It was a completely different matter to actually experience it.

He felt a yearning pain in his chest, a sadness that it had taken him until the age of twenty-seven to do what kids ten years younger than him were doing in the back of cars in Inverness every night. He hadn’t chosen abstinence. It had just never happened. He lived in a sparsely populated part of the world. He was quiet. He was shy. He was working. He was playing his guitar. He was at gymnastics. He was with his family. The excuses were more familiar to him than the back of his hand. And the older he got, the more difficult it was to address. How do you explain to a potential girlfriend you’d never even kissed a girl?

He squeezed his eyes shut and rubbed his forehead.Sam. She was his sun, his moon and all his stars. His everything. Kissing her, touching her. It blew his mind. Fuck, he’d come in his jeans feeling her fall apart under his tongue. Had he been good enough for her? Would she ever want to do it again?

She was leaving in two days. After that he’d never see her again. He was just a night of fun, the consolation prize for not winning Brad Bauer. He was deluded if he thought she would ever want more.

But how was he meant to act towards her now? He had no fucking idea what to say or do. And what if his mum had heard them? His heart hammered in his chest. How could he face either of them? Panic consumed him, clutching at his throat. He threw back the covers. He couldn’t do this. He needed to go.

Sam slept in,waking with a stretch and a dreamy smile. She ached in all the right places and her tummy fizzed with excitement.

Holy fucking shit.

Who knew Jamie McDougall was a secret sex god? She’d never felt like that with anyone before. Sex with him was like surfing the perfect wave on the shores of heaven and she was desperate to ride it again. She checked the time. Could she sneak into his room for round two? She’d left his bed because she didn’t want him to be embarrassed in front of his mum. Morag would be in the post office by now so the coast was clear.
