“Yeah,” he says groggily, wiping the sleep from his eyes. “I guess we did. Gotta say, I’ve never woken up next to a girl before.” He runs his gaze down my practically naked body, my bra the only item of clothing he never removed. His cock bobs against his stomach, and he reaches out for me. “C’mere, Ana.”
I push back and shake my head. “No, Teddy, it’s morning. You need to leave.”
“Shit. What’s the time?”
“Nine-thirty.”
“Fuck.” He springs from the bed and grabs his boxers. “Shit, Ana, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. Just hurry.” I say, searching for a clean pair of pajamas and pulling them on.
“Will your parents be awake?”
I nod, shrugging on my bathrobe and tightening the belt. “Mom and Dad are early risers. He’ll be in his office on the other side of the house, so he’ll be fine. It’s my mom we have to worry about.” I nibble on my thumbnail, watching him tug on his Henley, now fully dressed. “How did you get in here last night?”
He glances toward the window. “Climbed, but I don’t think I can go back that way. I didn’t realize those trellis plants were roses when I’ve climbed up here before. No idea how I missed the thorns all of the other times, but…” He rolls his sleeve. Raised, reddened welts run up the inside of his forearm. I hiss and lightly touch the edges.
“Oh gosh, are you okay?” I ask, angry at myself for not noticing he was hurt last night. Thumbing to the bathroom, I say, “I have Bacitracin. I can…”
He tugs me into his arms by the bathrobe belt.
“I’m fine.” He kisses me before I have the chance to worry about morning breath. “Think we can sneak me out of here without getting caught?”
Silently, we reach the front door without a hitch. Teddy twists the lock and slowly slips outside, his shoes in his hand. Turning back, he catches the door in his hand before I can close it. I tense, quickly looking over my shoulder as I hear movement from the kitchen.
“It’s your birthday soon.”
“Yeah, so?” I ask, glancing back again.
“Do you have plans?”
I blink. “No. Nothing.”
Teddy grins. “Good. Keep the weekend free, okay?”
“Whole weekend? Why?”
He winks. “It’s a secret.”
“Morgana? What are you doing?”
I jump and rudely close the door in his face. “Nothing.”
Mom eyes me skeptically. “Who was that?”
“Shay,” I say without thinking.
“At this time in the morning?”
“Uh--huh. She was giving me a textbook for my exam next week.” She looks down at my empty hands. “I mean,Igavehera textbook for her exam. Brain’s not fully switched on yet. Think I need some coffee.”
Teddy:What are you wearing?
Ana:Yoga pants and Skip’s hoodie. Why?
Teddy:We need to work on your sexting.
Teddy:We also need to get one of my hoodies for you.
