“Neither do you,” she said. She was glad that he recognized that too.
He went deep and held still, her grinding against him as if he knew she needed that bit of friction to get her over the edge.
Her breath caught, and her body let loose as wave after wave of pleasure flooded between her legs.
“Keep your eyes open,” he groaned out. He was coming too.
“I can’t,” she said. There wasn’t darkness when she closed them again, because she had the image of Brennan in her brain, his smile full of love, his heart pounding with hers.
They stayed just like that even after they were done. Her body was so relaxed, she drifted off to sleep more content than she thought was possible.

SURPRISE VISIT
Alana gathered her things, put her laptop in her bag and was taking off early to get some work done at home. There was hardly anyone in the office today anyway.
Kelsey was off dealing with wedding details with Van. Less than a month away at this point.
Brennan was in Boston until tomorrow meeting with clients. He hadn’t wanted to go, but got it over with.
He got on the ferry this morning, and since he had to be there for two days, was staying the night in a hotel, then would be home around six on Friday.
She offered to pick Becca up from daycare and have dinner ready for him.
He’d joked it was nice to come home to his girls.
That was what she considered herself now.
One of Brennan’s girls.
She knew he put Becca first and always would, but she felt confident enough in their relationship that she was right up there too.
“Alana?”
It felt as if the legs of tiny spiders were racing down her back. She’d recognize that voice anywhere, but the question was why it was on Amore Island.
“What the heck are you doing here?”
“I came to see you,” Jonathan said. “You’re not answering my texts and we need to talk.”
“What? Why?”
The wind was blowing in the parking lot. He parked next to her car, and she was annoyed that she hadn’t noticed it when she came out. Before he opened the door and called out to her.
“Because I’m pissed off and we need to talk. You can’t keep ignoring me.”
She could and she would.
They had nothing to say to each other.
At least in her mind.
The last time he tried to contact her, prior to the texts she’d gotten on the island, right before she moved here, she’d told him to never contact her again. That was it. Almost a year of nothing!
She thought he listened.
Guess she was wrong.
