“Like, dating apps?” Spencer answered, his mouth full of turkey. “Sometimes.”

Chase tilted his head back down, raising a brow at his friend. “They any good?”

Spencer swallowed noisily and gave Chase a ridiculous grin. “Aw, Chasey, are you looking for love? A nice beta lady to have nice beta babies with?”

“Dick,” Noah said immediately, finally looking up from his phone.

He and Chase had realized early on in the friendship that they’d need to come up with a code word for when Spencer was spouting dickish nonsense without realizing it. The one they’d come up with was … not subtle.

Spencer managed to pull off an offended look. “I saidnicebeta babies.”

“I think I’ll wait until after college for the two point five kids, thanks. Just … looking to hook up? I guess?”

“What about that alpha you banged. Was he any good?”

Of course Spencer remembered. He never forgot that sort of shit. Chase flipped his cap forward again, glancing to the side at Noah, but the other alpha didn’t look suspicious.

Of course he doesn’t. Why the fuck would he?

“He was—”

And like a fucking demon summoned from the depths, there was Burke. After two weeks of not a single sighting, he was there, across the grassy square, walking on the path that ran alongside the biosciences building. He was talking to another professor, an omega wearing a hopelessly dorky, floppy wide-brimmed hat.

As Chase watched, the two of them paused on the path, the omega gesticulating wildly.

Chase slumped lower in his seat.

“He was what?” Noah asked.

It took Chase a moment to realize both his friends were staring at him. “Who was what?”

“The alpha Spence says you banged,” Noah said slowly, like maybe he’d been waiting for a response for a while.

“Oh.” Chase cleared his throat. “He was … good.”

More than good.

Chase hadn’t been able to stop thinking abouthowgood. While in class. While not studying. While losing at beach volleyball.

He’d get these little flashes.Perfect fucking hole. Touch yourself for me.And he’d go all hot, and his skin would feel like it was too tight on his body.

Chase had never been sex-obsessed before, not like the majority of the alphas and omegas he knew. He’d even liked that about himself, how it made him chiller than most of the undergrads around him. Less volatile.

But now it was a problem. Because Chase didn’t want dating apps. He didn’t want a nice beta lady or their imaginary kids. He didn’t want to go with the flow anymore, if the flow meant pretending that night had never happened.

What Chase wanted was to be held down and fucked within an inch of his life. He wanted crooning, growly words telling him he had a gorgeous body and a perfect fucking hole. He wanted to tear the dorky omega professor out of Burke’s line of sight and—andbitehim.

Burke, not the omega.

Why did it have to be one time anyway? They’d already done the bad, forbidden thing. So why not just … keep doing it? Chase wouldn’t spill to anyone. And Burke definitely seemed like the kind of man who knew how to keep a secret.

Salty ocean air. A firm hand on his shoulder.

“Hey man, are you okay?” Noah asked.

With immense effort, Chase tore his eyes away from Burke and the omega, giving Noah what he hoped was an easy grin. “Yeah, of course. Just have an essay I’m trying to figure out.”

Noah didn’t look convinced. He squeezed Chase’s shoulder. “You can tell us if you’re not, you know.”
