“Really Colin?” I try to look irritated but it’s only answered with a slap to my ass. With a squeak, I quickly follow my friends out to the dance floor.

“Maggie, I can’t believe you just let Colin basically dry hump you on the bar for free drinks. What happened to our sweet, quiet Maggie? She’s been replaced with wild, sexy Maggie. I love it!” I blush at Izzy’s comment.

“I think Colin brings out the bad girl in her. I’ve never seen anything so hot in my life!” Claire adds. I look over at Lily. I expect to see her scowling at me, but she has a grin plastered on her face.

“I’ve got to admit, even I thought that was hot. You two are perfect for each other. I think he forces you out of your shell and you ground him. I love watching y’all together. I just can’t believe it took him so long to finally get up the guts to go for it,” Lily says as we dance in the middle of the floor together.

“So did everyone but me know he had this thing for me?” I ask in exasperation. They all nod their heads. “Y’all suck!” I add. We all start laughing. I suddenly feel hands settle on my hips.

“Sorry ladies, I can’t just sit over there watching her hips sway unmonitored. I’ve already had to growl at a couple of guys checking you out,” Colin says over my shoulder.

“Yeah, that doesn’t work for me either,” Matt says, easing up behind Lily. “Grayson is guarding the table this time,” he adds as Alex and Marcus appear.

“Good, my feet can’t handle much more.” Izzy waves before heading back to the table. We continue to dance until the bar starts clearing out. Slowly everyone says their goodbyes with promises of doing it again soon. Since Colin drank enough to be staggering, I drive us home.

After getting ready for bed, I leave the bathroom to find an empty bed. Wandering into the living room, I spy Colin, minus all but his underwear asleep on the couch. Grabbing a blanket, I carefully start to cover him when he pulls me on top of him. Well, this is a bad case of déjá vu.

“Damn, you were gorgeous tonight,” he murmurs. “Took everything I had not to pin you to the alley wall.” I laugh softly. “What are you giggling at?”

“I had that same idea. You pulled me back to the table before I could act on it.”

“You know what they say about great minds thinking alike. I only had to threaten four guys tonight for staring at your ass. Pretty tame night.”

“I had someone ask if you had any brothers. I heard a lot of comments about how, and I quote, ‘fuckable’ you are. So much class,” I say, rolling my eyes.

“Did you at least agree with them? Or do you need a reminder?” He slings his leg over me, rolling us over until I’m under him. I can already feel how hard he is through my shorts and his boxer briefs. When he grinds his hips down into me sparks shoot behind my eyes. Will I ever get enough of this man’s body? With his second grind, I know without a doubt I never will.

“You don’t need these tonight.” He raises up on his knees, pulling my shorts off in one move. He slides his own underwear down his legs, kicking them off the end of the couch.

“Can I ask you something?” I ask as he settles back over me.

“Uh-huh.” He begins kissing down my neck where the salt was earlier.

“Why, when you get drunk, do you always sleep on the couch?” He already has me squirming to get my legs around him. He continues his lazy journey down my body until he pulls one of my hard nipples into his mouth. He finally answers when he releases it.

“I have no fucking idea. I think it’s just the first soft surface I usually come to. Are you done talking now?” I nod my head when he looks at me with his stormy blue eyes.

“Good. I’m ready to start making you moan instead.” He returns to his journey, running his tongue along my belly, nipping at my hips. He knows that drives me wild. When I moan, bucking my hips, he smiles up at me. “Better.”

Colin

These last couple of months have been both heaven and hell. The weekends are amazing, but they fly by way too fast. The weekdays seem like purgatory. Maggie hasn’t seen or heard from the ex-professor since my attitude adjustment, but I’m too damn far to do anything about it if she did. He was fired from his last teaching position and everything I can find out about him leads me to believe he moved out of state.

I tried to put some careful consideration into the decision, but in the end, it didn’t take me long to accept the district attorney’s offer. This town holds nothing for me anymore. My world is five hundred and seventy miles to the south, wrapped in the arms of the woman I love more than I thought possible.

For some reason though, I haven’t told Maggie yet about my impending relocation. Everything has been so perfect between us, I simply haven’t wanted to rock the boat. I assume I can live with my parents until I find an apartment, since I don’t want to pressure Maggie into us moving in together.

Raising my hand, I motion for another pitcher of beer. I will miss the guys sitting around this table at the bar I’ve spent a lot of my downtime at. It’s become my only real escape from who I had become for years now.

I’ve already told Ernie and Andy about the Habitat group I’m working with in Fort Worth, but I can’t resist working in a few hours every evening here when I can. They are laughing, passing my phone around, watching our latest body shot escapade for the tenth time.

Since the bartenders were buddies, Maggie and I had already reached legend status before I even got back into town. That did not impress my boss which helped spur on my resignation before I got fired. Even the most brilliant quarterback can get released when he becomes too much of a hassle.

But the most interesting phone call was from my new boss, DA Winters. All he said was that I showed pretty good form for the whiskey shot. I was told the entire office is looking forward to the annual summer party now, if that’s what they can expect.

Apparently, Dad was not impressed when he shared the video with him at poker night. He may come across as a hardass, but somehow I think I’m going to enjoy working for him. Now, if I can just continue to avoid the lecture Dad is certain to give me. I look over when my reverie is interrupted by a hearty laugh.
