“No, that’s cool.I mean, he’s a decent guy.You could definitely do worse. What happens when this is over and he goes back to DC?”

“I don’t know, I haven’t gotten that far.”

“Okay, I can take a hint. But just so you know, I did spend a lot of energy trying to beat our brother off of Thayer, so just let me know if I need to crack anyone’s head.”

Tyler grinned at him.She knew he probably couldn’t see her in the dark, but it still felt nice to have someone willing to go to battle for her. This protective older brother thing might not be so terrible after all.

“Thanks, I’ll let you know if I do,” she said. Before she could say anymore, her phone vibrated again.

Dex: Are you ready?

Tyler: Yes, we’re good to move.

Dex: They’re unhooking the lines.Give it about 15 then move.Be careful.

Tyler: We will.Let you know as soon as we find something.

“We need to be ready to go in fifteen,” Tyler said.

Knox raised his wrist, starting the countdown on his watch. They had exactly four hours before they would be out of American waters to find the women. She watched as he checked everything they would need.

Dex had provided them with a heat-sensing radar that could detect people through metal, a flare gun to signal with, and a set of small bolt cutters that would cut the lock off of the container.Knox had also managed to conceal a very nasty-looking military knife in an ankle holster, some cable ties, and a night-vision monocle.

When exactly fifteen minutes had passed, Knox slowly opened the cabinet door, listening for anyone that might be in the area.Remarkably, he managed to unfold his large frame from the cabinet with very little noise.

Taking a deep breath, she followed him out. They both took a second to let their limbs wake back up before slowly heading toward the part of the ship that held the refrigerated units.
