“That he just wasn’t the marrying type.Stupid if you ask me.”They stood watching as he got up from the table and walked toward the door.
“We’d better go if we’re going to make the plane in time,” Knox said, letting the door close behind him.Giving Tyler a hug and Dex a handshake, he climbed in the back of Memphis’s rental car.
“So you’re coming to visit soon,” Thayer said, turning back to Tyler.“I won’t take no for an answer.And, Dex, I want to hear all about house hunting.I’m going to miss you guys.”
With a hug, Thayer opened the passenger door, climbing in.After another hug and handshake, Memphis climbed into the driver’s side.Tyler stood with Dex’s arm around her waist, waving until the car turned the corner.
“What do we do now?”she asked, finding her friend still sitting in the booth inside.
“Well, I’m going to the apartment and you should go be with your friend.”
Tyler stood on her toes, kissing Dex on the cheek.Handing her the keys to the rental, he pulled out his phone to request a rideshare.
“So you’ll be there when I get home later?”she asked with her hand on the diner door.With a smile, he looked up from his phone to meet her eyes.
“Don’t worry, babe.I plan to hang around for a long, long time.”
