“Damn, Mr.Monroe.If I had known you were this uncultured in high school, it would have made all the difference,” Tyler said before they got carried away.

“And what difference would it have made, dear sister?”Knox asked, turning his gaze on her.

“Well, I wouldn’t have stressed so much about those impossibly hard calculus tests you used to give.”

Greer shook her head, it was still impossible to see him as teaching math at the front of the classroom.Did he wear dress clothes? Were the sleeves of his dress shirt rolled up, exposing his sleeves of tattoos, or was there a strict policy requiring him to leave them down?

Knox gave a snort before turning back to Greer.

“Can you fetch me a soda, sugar, while I talk to the adults for a minute?”he asked. That’s right, he was a complete asshole, which kept her mind focused on not being pulled in by his raw magnetism.

“And just like that, you rocketed to the status of douchebag. There’s a leveling-up process, you know, so congratulations,” Greer growled at him, snatching up her tray.

“For your information, you’ve already bestowed that title on me.Try again.”With a huff, Greer crossed her arms over her chest.

“You know she’s going to spit in your drink, right?”Tyler asked.

“Yet, she keeps coming back for more,” Knox answered like she wasn’t even here.

“Is that all it takes?”Dex asked, looking at Tyler.“Stomping around with a bad attitude?”

Greer rolled her eyes before heading to the bar.She waited briefly for the bartender to bring a round of sodas before she returned to the table. She handed Knox his drink before setting two more sodas on the table.

“By the way, I did spit in that.”Without taking his eyes off of Greer, Knox took a slow, long drink. When he had finished the glass of soda, he set it on the table.

“Spit’s not the only thing I’d be happy to share.”

With a smirk on his face, he turned to walk back down the hall.Greer knew she should be raving mad, but instead she felt goose bumps raise down her arms at his words. She watched him until he turned to walk back into the monitor room by the private dance rooms.

It was dark at that end of the hall, but she could almost swear she saw him give her a lewd smile. With a huff of righteous indignation, she turned to wait on the rest of her tables.

“You know,” Dex said, watching Greer work her way through the tables.“If something doesn’t happen soon between those two, I’m afraid this world won’t survive when it finally does. The fallout will level cities for a thousand miles.”

“I do know.Greer can be a lot to handle, but I’ve never seen her get as riled up as she does around him.It is kind of fun to watch.”Tyler raised her glass, clinking it against Dex’s glass with a laugh.

She turned her attention back to the table where the men were.If only she could will them to leave, she could get out of the noise inside the club.

Tyler had no problem with the dancing. If you were an adult and wanted to make your living taking off your clothes, then more power to you.But the neon lights, thumping music, and general atmosphere always left her with a nasty headache. She had already spent most of the night watching Dex turn down one offer for a lap dance after another.

With a sigh, she rolled her head on her shoulders to stretch the muscles in her neck. She felt Dex’s hand begin to massage her shoulder, making her moan.

“Tired?”he asked.

“Exhausted.”

“I don’t get it.They rarely tip the dancers and never accept an offer for a private dance. Why would you sit right up by the main stage?”

“From what I can tell, it’s to make sure Greer has to serve them. She has seniority over the rest of the servers so she gets the best tables.Either that or she’s meaner than the other servers, hard to tell.”

They both turned to look down the hall when they heard noise from that direction.Knox was wrestling some guy bodily down the hallway to the door.Kicking him out, he caught their eye.Shaking his head, he returned to the monitor room.

The distraction almost made them miss the men standing to walk outside.Jumping up, Dex hastily threw some cash on the table before grabbing Tyler’s hand to follow them.Jogging to Dex’s car, they barely made it through the parking lot before the truck the men were driving turned onto the road.

Tyler could feel her heart race as they followed from several car lengths behind. This could possibly be one of the most exciting things she had done in a while.Never, in a million years, would she have guessed she would be following some thugs who may be responsible for smuggling women while sitting next to the most gorgeous FBI agent she had ever seen.

“You should at least breathe,” Dex said, looking over at where Tyler had a death grip on her seat belt. She had been afraid to do anything to disturb Dex on the off chance the men would get away.“This really isn’t as exciting as it looks. We’ll just see where they live, put the tracker I brought on that truck, then head home.”She nodded at him with a smile, settling back in the seat.

He was wrong. This was crazy exciting.
