Our line isn’t the only one still working, even though practice is long over . The entire team is out here with us.

The only person in the NHL who could get people to stay after practice is probably the damn Leprechaun. We all want to make him proud.

And he’s out here singing and chirping like this shit is easy.

I won’t complain. I want Aiden and all his brothers to think I’m the most agreeable, perfect human to ever exist so one day, when he finds out that I’m in love with his sister, he won’t castrate me.

On our way off the ice, Camden Snow skates up beside me and nudges me. “You hear the front office is scouting Huey Davis?”

I nod. It’s not a surprise after the comments Ezra made on the plane a few weeks ago.

Camden grabs the boards and steps onto the carpeting. “You nervous?”

Should I be? Probably. Am I? That’s to be determined, I guess. Lately, I can’t muster the hunger for the game like I used to. “Always good to have new blood.”

Camden’s face sours. “You don’t think one of us is on the chopping block? I just came back, and you’re up for renewal.” He leans in close. “There’s no way Gavin is getting rid of his own brother-in-law. His wife would kill him.”

He’s right. And on top of that, Daniel is an incredible athlete with years left to play. Besides, they just signed a deal to keep him.

“And War is like family,” he adds.

I dip my chin in acknowledgment. Tyler Warren is our team’s captain, and one could argue that he’s the heart of this team, even if he isn’t a Langfield. He isn’t going anywhere. The guy spent most of his life searching for a place to belong, for a true, caring family, and here he is, with a wife and four kids and an entire team of hockey players who love him.

“But you and me.” Camden sighs. “If we want to stay, we’re going to have to work for it.”

I squeeze his shoulder, realization dawning. He probably needs the comfort. Like War, Cam doesn’t talk to his blood relatives anymore.

The only family member he was close to, his sister, disappeared after Cam’s then girlfriend had an affair with his sister’s boyfriend and subsequently got pregnant. Now he’s got no one but hockey.

That could have been me.

Would have been if not for Ollie.

And now I have Sienna too.

So no, I’m not panicking about the possibility of being traded. This is just a job. If my options at the end of next season are accepting a trade or retiring, then yeah, I’ll miss the game, but I can live without it. I can’t live without Ollie and Sienna.

Fuck, just thinking of the two of them and our potential future makes me smile.

And it only grows when Sienna steps into the arena with Gavin. My girl is wearing tight black pants with a red shirt that molds to her chest and shows off her tiny curves and the swell of her breasts. With her hair pulled back in a low bun, her wicked smirk is on full display as she finds me. It’s pure deviance. Like she’s thinking of all the ways she can climb me. Tease me. Fuck me.

And, fuck, does the thought of any one of those light me up.

Camden nudges me. “Better be careful. Baby Langfield is giving you sex eyes.”

I choke, my airway closing and panic igniting in my chest.

Behind me, Aiden groans. “That’s my sister.”

Sienna cocks a brow, clearly hearing our interaction, and grins.

Aiden passes us, smacking Camden on the back of the head as he goes. “And she’s right there.”

“Aw, Aiden,” she teases. “You’re such a sweet big brother.” Her grin turns wicked and her eyes flash. “I hate to break it to ya, but I can hear about sex and not have my innocence rocked.” Then, as if whispering, she puts a hand up and adds, “I can even have it. In fact, I did last night.”

Gavin glares at her, and Brooks comes off the ice, covering his ears. “Sienna, please.”

Aiden, who’s stomping away now, groans. “My ears are bleeding.”
