His wolf was ecstatic that his mate was finally home, but Gavin was worried about Damara. He had so many questions that needed to be answered.

“I think my clothes should fit you. You may have to roll up the jeans, since I’m a little taller than you,” Jaynie said to Damara as they stood in the kitchen at the bottom of the stairs. “I’ll be right back.”

Damara nodded, her eyes still wide as if she was going into shock. She turned to him once he entered the room.

“Hey, are you okay?” he asked, coming to stand next to her.

His parents moved off into the family room as if to give them privacy.

“Yes. I’ve waited for so long to find where I’ve come from. I was about to give up tonight, until I heard your howl.”

Unable to stop touching her, he moved his hand to brush her hair away from her eyes. Her hair was much longer than she’d kept it in the past. He actually liked the new style. He trailed his fingers along her ear and tucked the hair behind it.

“I can’t believe you are actually here. We’ve all looked for you. I refused to believe you were dead,” he murmured as he searched her face.

She had lost weight since she’d been gone. She had carried a little extra on her before. Her body had always been perfect. He was a large man and loved how her ass and breasts had fit his hands perfectly.

“I have to ask, because my wolf is comforted by yours, it feels safe with you. Did we mean something to each other? Were we mated?” she whispered. She leaned into his hand while he cupped her jaw.

“We were destined to be together. You are my mate, and we didn’t get a chance to complete our mating ritual before you disappeared.”

“Here are some clothes,” Jaynie announced softly at the base of the stairs. Her eyes were filled with tears, looking at them.

“Thank you,” Damara said, brushing her hands across her face. She moved toward Jaynie and gathered the clothes against her chest.

“Here, let me show you where you can get dressed.” Gavin motioned for her to follow him. He led her down the hall to the guest bathroom.

She entered the bathroom and paused, turning to him. Her lips curved into a small smile.

“Thank you, Gavin,” she murmured.

“No need to thank me.” He shook his head. His heart was pounding against his chest in excitement that she was home. “This is where you belong. You’re home.”

She nodded as he softly shut the door. He leaned his head against the door and blew out a deep breath. His mate was home. He pulled back and knew he had to make a phone call.

He needed to let her parents know their daughter had returned.
