She knew if she were patient, she would be able to get to know all of her answers for the million questions that had roamed her brain for the past years.

The Greenes milled around the house waiting for her parents to arrive. Gavin sat across from her on the couch. Her eyes met his, and her breath escaped her chest. His dark eyes drew her in, and she couldn’t look away from him.

Was it true? Were they fated mates? From what he had said, they hadn’t had the official mating ceremony, but had they officially mated? She had never found any marks on her body that showed she had received the bite of her mate. But it didn’t keep her wolf from pushing her to go search for her family and loved ones.

“Have you mated anyone?” she asked nervously. Her wolf perked up at her question, wanting to know the answer.

“No,” he replied with a shake of his head.

“Oh,” she breathed. Her wolf relaxed at his answer. She looked down at her hands as she nervously twiddled her fingers.

“There’s no need to be nervous.”

Her eyes flew to Gavin’s, and she instantly relaxed. He must have used his alpha power to connect with her wolf. Her animal whined, wanting to go to him, submit to him.

“You’re the alpha?” she asked, brushing her hair behind her ear.

“Yes. My father retired about a year ago, and I took over,” he answered.

The sound of the doorbell filled the air, capturing her attention. She turned toward the doorway and waited to see who had arrived.

Brianna’s heart raced with the thought of meeting her parents. Would she recognize them? Would the blanket that covered her life’s memory be lifted? She wiped her hands on her borrowed jeans and stood from her perch on the couch. She turned at the sound of a sob that broke from the alcove that led to the hallway.

Her eyes met those that looked similar to hers. Two figures were frozen, staring at her. The woman was the exact image of Brianna, only older. Brianna greedily took in the couple who couldn’t be anyone other than her parents. Her father was tall and shared the same coloring as her.

“Oh my God!” her mother cried out, rushing toward Brianna.

The air was knocked from Brianna at the force of the impact of the woman engulfing her in her arms. Brianna closed her eyes and squeezed her back.

“Thank you, God.”

Her eyes burned with tears at the knowledge that her journey was over.

She was truly home.

Another set of arms wrapped around her and her mother.

She could see through the tears that her father had joined them. His chest rumbled with his silent cry while he held them to his chest.

Her mother pulled back, her cheeks marred by her tears as she took in Brianna’s face.

“I’ve prayed for so long for you. I thought we’d lost you,” her mother said.

Brianna hated to ruin the tearful reunion. She could plainly see that this was her parents, and even her animal stood up and recognized them.

But her broken mind couldn’t remember. No matter how hard she tried, it was like hitting a brick wall.

But her heart knew the truth.

This was her family.

Gavin must have seen her pained expression.

“Irvin and Elizabeth.” Gavin moved to their side.

The couple stepped away from her. Her father gripped her to his side and kissed the top of her head.

“Welcome home, baby,” he murmured, his lips brushing the top of her head.
