She was home and would not be going back to the other alpha. Fate had chosen for them to be together, and he wouldn’t hesitate to prove she belonged to him.
His wolf was begging to be let out and run alongside his mate.
“I take it Damara remembers you?” Spencer asked, moving to his side.
Gavin tore his gaze off Damara. Her parents were taking her around the pack to reintroduce her to members.
“Why’d you think that?” he asked, eyeing his longtime friend.
Spencer’s smirk relayed his thoughts before he even spoke another word.
“Well, besides the way you look at her, her scent is all over you.” Spencer chuckled.
“We’ve may have had a breakthrough or two,” he admitted. He refused to share the intimate moments he’d had with Damara. As much as his wolf wanted to boast that they had been with their mate, he knew it wouldn’t be appropriate to walk around beating his chest like a caveman.
“So she remembers?”
“No, but she has been getting images here and there. Tomorrow, her parents are taking her to see a local physician about her amnesia to get a second opinion.”
“That makes sense. It would be good to make sure the doctors in California didn’t miss anything,” Spencer said. “When are you claiming her as your mate?”
“Not until she gains her memory back.” His keen gaze moved around the gathering space as members of the pack greeted each other.
“What if that doesn’t happen?” Spencer asked quietly.
Gavin refused to believe that she would never regain her full memory. She was already getting bits and pieces back just being around him and her parents. There was no telling what would happen the longer she stayed near them.
“I’m keeping a positive outlook,” Gavin replied, glancing at Spencer.
His friend nodded and slapped him on the back.
“I’ll go make sure everyone who is coming is here,” Spencer announced.
“Alpha, we have secured the perimeter,” Solon informed him, coming to stand by Gavin. “A few of the enforcers went ahead to ensure that our run will go uninterrupted tonight.”
Gavin nodded to Solon as Spencer moved to gather everyone around. Tonight was a special night. His mate would be by his side.
“Good. This is an important night, and I don’t want anything to ruin it,” Gavin informed Solon.
“Yes, sir.” Solon nodded before jogging off.
Gavin’s attention was on Damara while she spoke with a few people in the crowd.
A small smile graced her lips, and he could tell she didn’t recognize who she was speaking to. He sent up a prayer that her memory would return. Everyone in the pack who knew her, loved her.
She was intelligent, witty, came from a strong family line, and she cared about their pack. That was why she would make a great alpha mate.
Spencer gathered everyone around. Gavin could feel eyes on him as he approached. Every pack member lowered their eyes when he walked past in deference to his power. It was a sign of respect and a sign of their animals submitting to his.
He stood in front of the crowd and smiled. His family had led this pack for centuries, and it was an honor for him to lead the Golden Moon pack.
“How is everyone?” he asked the group once they settled down.
The group murmured greetings, and the excitement grew. He could see smiles on the faces in front of him and knew they would be ready to shift and run free.
“One of our wolves who was dear to all of our hearts has returned home,” he announced. He looked around the crowd and saw Damara standing off to the side with her parents.
Clapping and exclamations of joy filled the air.
