Finally, he gave in to his beast.

The sounds of his clothes shredding filled the air. His muscles contorted while his bones snapped and lengthened. His dark fur spread across his body. Once the shift was complete, he threw back his head and let loose a powerful howl that echoed for miles around him.

Jaynie fell to the ground with the strength of his waves hitting her. Even the sister to a powerful alpha was affected by Gavin’s strength.

Without a doubt, every shifter would hear him.

His men would come.

They would get his mate back, and he’d kill the other alpha for stepping foot on his lands and taking what wasn’t his to have.

His beast took off in a hard sprint toward the woods. His long strides ate up the distance, fast. His wolf was out for blood, and he turned the control over to it.

Leaping, he made his way into the thick brush. His animal slowed and opened its senses. He breathed in deep, taking in all the scents of the forest.

Silence surrounded him. The forest recognized the predator in the area, and animals scurried out of sight. His sharp gaze narrowed on the trees, and he grew silent. His ears tried to pick up the sound of any movements, but there was nothing.

His wolf ran in the direction of where Damara had last been seen with Solon and Jaynie. He didn’t want to waste any time. If they didn’t go after Damara now, there was no telling how far ahead the other wolves would get.

He couldn’t afford to lose her this time.

Gavin’s chest rumbled with a deep growl. His wolves canvased the area, taking in the scent of the three wolves who had been there. The fourth scent, one he was intimately familiar with.

Damara.

She’d been here.

The wolves had taken her.

The scent of the alpha was all over the grounds. The wolves were bold in the fact that they hadn’t tried to hide their trail.

Gavin and his wolves had scoured the area for traces of Damara’s whereabouts and came upon this clearing. It was an area where tire tracks were discovered. The wolves had driven and parked their ride here.

His wolf pawed at the area where the truck had sat. He turned and looked around, imagining the wolves had hidden here, shifted, and hunted Damara down.

Gavin pulled back on his animal and shifted. His bones realigned while the fur of his beast withdrew into his skin. Within seconds, he stood in his human form, seething. His rage was temporarily contained, knowing he had to keep his wits about him.

“Shift,” he ordered his wolves.

His alpha waves rocked the area around them. At the moment, he was uncaring that his powers were hitting his enforcers hard. He paced with irrational thoughts plaguing him.

He ignored the whining and growls filling the air as he forced the men to change. A forced shift was never pleasurable. It caused the animals to immediately obey, not giving the human side time to prepare.

Go after her,his wolf urged.

Silence!he snapped to his beast.

If he followed the urging of his animal, he’d still be in his wolf form chasing after a vehicle that was long gone.

No, if he was to get his mate back, he would have to thoughtfully plan out her rescue.

Coming into his grounds and stealing her from him was a coward’s move.

The alpha should have come to him as a man, an alpha wolf, face to face, but instead, he’d ripped her from the woods while she had been allowing her wolf to get reacquainted with the pack’s lands.

Her home.
