Athena froze, staring at them. She reached up and gently ran her finger along his mouth.

“How can this be?” she whispered. She lifted his lip and took in the long canines. Her gaze flew to his.

“I was born a vampire.”

She searched his gaze, and deep inside she knew he was telling the truth. This was no parlor trick. It wasn’t a play off the lighting.

She slid her hand down his chest and rested it on top of his left pectoral, just over where his heart would be. He felt like a man should.

Hard, warm, and the feeling of him pressed up against her sent her heart racing and her pussy pulsating.

“But your heart. I feel it beating,” she noted, staring at her hand. The steady thump of his heart vibrated under her palm.

“Three hundred and sixty-seven years I’ve walked this earth waiting to find the one person my heart would beat for.” He tilted her chin up, making her look him in the eye.

Athena was mesmerized by his dark gaze. No longer was she afraid.

Sorin would never hurt her.

She was sure of it.

“What’s so special about me?”

“Fate has destined for us to be together,” he replied matter-of-factly.

“Fate?” She lifted an eyebrow at him.

“How do you think you came to apply for a job at my casino?”

He pulled her close, and there was no way she could miss the massive erection pressing against her. She bit back a whimper.

“The one night I decide to tour my casino, and you just happen to be performing. Do you think that was a coincidence? No, my dear. That was fucking fate.”

His gaze dropped down to her neck, and her core clenched.

“Are you going to bite me?” she asked.

His nostrils flared, and his eyes darkened to a midnight black. No longer was she able to see his pupils.

His true self was being presented to her.

“No.” His voice was strained.

His hand skimmed her neck, and a shiver slid along her spine. Her body was slowly betraying her.

But then again, every time she was around Sorin, her body screamed for him to take her.

“Do you want to?” Athena couldn’t help but ask the loaded question. Her breath caught in her throat as she waited for his answer.

“So fucking bad.” His voice was hoarse. His arm tightened around her waist. His gaze met hers. He shook his head and let loose a deep breath. “But I won’t.”

“Why not?” She reached up and rubbed the side of her neck. What was wrong with her blood? Why wouldn’t he want it?

“Not until you beg me.”

Sorin stared at Athena who was sitting on the couch. He’d had Linkin leave his suite when he’d arrived. He had showered and changed his clothes in Linkin’s suite before arriving at his. He hadn’t wanted to come to Athena with the human’s blood on him.

As a human, she wouldn’t be able to comprehend the idea of vampirism with him covered in blood.
