Wrong thing to say.

Sorin flew forward using his vampiric speed. They weren’t ready for him. The element of surprise was on his side.

They’d made the mistake of thinking he was a regular vampire. With Sorin’s age came heightened powers. He made it to Skull Cap and wrapped his arms around the man’s neck.

“Seth!” Tommy yelled. He dove toward Sorin with this stake, who dodged to the side and avoided the wooden weapon.

“Stay where you are!” Sorin growled, meeting Tommy’s gaze. With the use of his compulsion, the human froze in place. One look into his eyes and a command—the human was Sorin’s to manipulate.

“Oh shit!” Seth whimpered. His hands clawed at Sorin’s, which he tightened. “Please let me go. I didn’t see anything.”

“You humans were spying on me. Your leader should have taught you better than to try to sneak up on the likes of me,” Sorin snapped. He leaned forward, and the craving for blood grew. He sensed the pounding of the human’s blood rushing through his body.

Sorin, a vampire whose primary nature was to hunt, got great joy out of capturing his prey.

“We were just told to follow you,” Seth cried out.

Sorin easily dragged Seth away from the street and into the shadows near the home.

“That was your first mistake,” Sorin growled. He slammed Seth against the building and struck for the pulsing artery. His fangs sank deep into the human’s neck. His copper fluid exploded into Sorin’s mouth.

A euphoric sensation rippled through his body.

The urge to drain the human filled him. His blood was quite tasty.

A vegetarian.

There wasn’t much fat in his blood.

Sorin wasn’t kind or gentle as he gulped down the thick nourishment. The human flailed, trying to buck Sorin off him.

He would drain the human.

Sorin would send a message to the hunters.

He continued to take long pulls of blood into his mouth. The human’s fight was growing weaker by the second. His feeble attempts to free himself were almost laughable.

A growl vibrated in Sorin’s chest as he fed. His muscles grew taut with the power he gained from a fresh kill.

Seth’s arms fell to the sides. Sorin tore his mouth from the human’s body and let it fall to the ground, lifeless.

His breathing was rapid, and the crimson fluid dripped down his face. Sorin closed his eyes and tilted his head back to the sky. He felt stronger, faster, and his body was immediately craving more.

A growl escaped him as he turned to the other human who remained where he stood, still under Sorin’s compulsion.

The human would do as he bid.

“Come to me,” he commanded.

He watched the human’s feet carry him to Sorin until he stood directly in front of him. Tommy’s eyes were dull and unfocused.

“You are going to take your friend’s body to your leader. Tell him that the hunters need to leave Vegas now or they will pay with their lives. Do you understand?” Sorin paused.

“Yes, sir,” Tommy mumbled.

“Good.”

“What’s up, my sister?”
