She spun around, and their eyes met. Her husky voice wrapped itself around Sorin and held him tight. She moved to the stage stairs and walked down them. Gasps and voices rose as she glided around the floor. Her hips swayed sensually while she sauntered. She stopped at the table next to theirs, wooing them with her charm. The women around it gazed at her with admiration while the men had pure, heated lust burning brightly in theirs.
Athena turned and made her way to their table and gave a nod to Bill. She smiled at Devin, and finally her gaze landed on Sorin. The sound of her heartbeat met his ears. His gaze dropped down to the pulse at the base of her neck, and he watched, fascinated, as it raced.
An unforeseen force slammed into Sorin’s chest, ripping out what air he had left in his lungs. His gaze flew back to hers.
It was her.
The one he’d been searching for.
Athena.
Let me in.
Open your heart.
Share your world with me.
I promise I’ll be everything you’ll ever need.
Her hand slid along his shoulder as she walked behind him. Little did she know how much her words resonated inside him. Sorin bit back a curse at how hard his cock had become. The need for the woman was overwhelming, even for a vampire of his age. He’d heard of how a vampire might react when they come across the one destined for them. But never in his wildest dreams would he have believed it.
He swallowed hard, rotating slightly in his chair, and their eyes met.
Her smile faltered for a second, but she recovered quickly. Her smooth caramel skin was flawless, her makeup light, and her light-brown eyes held a flicker of gold in them. Sorin’s gaze dropped down to her plump, red-painted lips that were curved into a seductive smile.
Athena paused singing as the background singers took over. She swayed with the music, and it was like she was only dancing for Sorin. He blinked, trying to gain control over his body. With a wink, she moved on, swaying her hips and turning on her heel to continue on to the next table while singing the lyrics of her song.
Sorin had to fight to keep himself from standing and dragging her back to him.
“Isn’t she amazing?” Bill asked, interrupting Sorin’s carnal thoughts of what he wanted to do with the brown-skinned songstress.
“That she is,” he replied. He ran a trembling hand through his hair. Never before had he ever been this affected by a woman.
He settled back in his chair, and his gaze flickered to Devin. She stared at him with her eyebrows raised and tilted her head to the side.
He leaned toward her. “I need to meet her. Tonight.”
