What was she doing?

Maxius must have felt the change in her. He tore his mouth from her and pulled back slightly.

Kamila opened her eyes and blinked several times to clear her vision. Her hands were still locked together at the base of his neck.

“This wasn’t how I wanted to tell you.” He released her and stepped back.

Kamila’s gaze dropped down to his massive erection. She swallowed hard and wiped her hands on her cloak.

She tucked her dark hair behind her ear.

Holy hell.

“What are you saying?” she asked. In her gut, she already knew what he was going to say.

How could this be?

They didn’t even know each other.

He was a wolf. She was a witch.

Fate wouldn’t do this to them.

Would she?

“Kamila. You know what this is between us.” His voice dropped low while he ran a finger along her lower lip. “By the way your body reacts to me, I can sense it.”

“Sense what?” she whispered, caught up in the melody of his voice.

“You are my mate.” He growled, his fingers tightening on her cheeks.

“Impossible,” she replied, shaking her head.

There was no way a wolf and a witch could join together.

Mating between their species hadn’t been done in decades.

“Is it?” His warm hand slid down to her neck and held her to him.

Kamila reached up and laid her hand on top of his. For once in her life, she was rendered speechless.

“That hasn’t happened in a long time.” She released Maxius from her grip and stepped back. She couldn’t think being this close to him. Being near him scrambled her brain.

She tried to avert her eyes from his manhood.

“Kamila—”

“Can you get some clothes on?” she interjected. His nakedness was one hell of a distraction. She spun around and took few steps away from him. She blew out a deep breath and tried to get her body under control. Pulling her hood over her head, she tried to ward off the chill from the breeze. “I can’t speak with you while you’re naked.”

“You can run all you want, Kamila.” Maxius chuckled.

He stood behind her, not touching her, but she felt him.

“I’m not running from anything,” she snapped and glanced over her shoulder.

The feral glint in his eyes took her breath away.

“I’m hoping you do. My wolf would love to give chase.”
