Her eyes moved back to the ground below, and she screamed. Even the tall trees appeared small. The castle was growing smaller off in the distance.
“Mythia!” she cried out.
Mythia took off running in the direction Xomor flew away in. He was carrying her mate off into the sky. Mythia picked up her speed as she got closer to the cliff. She dove off the edge of the mountain, the air whipping through her hair. She gave into her animal as she fell.
The magic of her beast took over. She shifted within seconds into her oversized black dragon.
Her wings straightened her out and began to lift her higher.
Mythia’s gaze zeroed in on the blue dragon. If he harmed Kelsey in any way, she would kill him.
She pushed her animal to fly faster. Xomor may have a short head start on her, but she would catch up to him. He had the most precious thing in the world in the grasp of his talons.
She roared her frustration. There would be no mid-air fight since he had Kelsey. She followed close behind, not wanting to piss him off and risk him dropping Kelsey.
He had said that he was her ancestor and was bound to protect her, but she would never trust him.
He now had no claim on Kelsey.
They had completed the mating bond, and that would void any hold he would’ve had over Kelsey.
Mythia cursed her brother. He had yet to connect with her. Galdar would catch an earful once she got hold of him.
Once Kelsey was back home, safe, Mythia had half a mind to fly to her brother and see him in person. This wasn’t like him to not answer.
Xomor headed toward a secluded hillside. Dipping down lower, she watched in horror as he tossed Kelsey to the ground. Her mate bounced and rolled a few times before coming to a halt.
Mythia roared and angled herself to free fall toward them. Her wings rested along her body to allow her to cut through quicker.
Xomor landed not too far from Kelsey. The blue dragon paced and kept his gaze on her.
Mythia landed on the ground. If it wasn’t for Kelsey being positioned between them, she would have charged at him. She bared her fangs and growled. Her talons scraped the ground, itching to tear him limb from limb.
Getting to her feet, Kelsey stumbled before righting herself.
Mythia shot her gaze back to the blue dragon, now in his human form. He was dressed in fighting leathers, and had his large sword sheathed in the scabbard on his back.
She pulled back on her animal and transitioned to her human form. She too was dressed for battle, with her large daggers at her waist.
“You will die for touching her,” Mythia snarled as she stalked toward Kelsey, eyeing her to see if there were any noticeable wounds. “Are you injured?”
Arriving at her side, Mythia ran her hands along her shoulders and arms, but didn’t see anything life-threatening.
“I’m okay. Just a few scrapes from the fall.” There were a few strands of grass in her hair and a scrape on her chin. Kelsey spun around and faced Xomor. “That’s how you put me down? Just toss me like I’m some crap toy or something?”
Ignoring Kelsey, he strolled toward them with a menacing expression on his face, his attention locked on Mythia.
“This is she? The one who touched the medallion and activated the spell?”
“She’s none of your concern,” Mythia growled, placing Kelsey behind her. The protective nature of her animal was growing strong. She had half a mind to exact vengeance upon him for every scratch on Kelsey’s skin. She didn’t care if he was her mate’s ancestor.
“I would beg to differ,” he grunted, stopping a few feet from Mythia. “Let me see her.”
“No.”
“I can speak for myself,” Kelsey objected. She stood next to Mythia and folded her arms in front of her chest. She eyed Xomor warily, the distrust apparent on her face.
She shouldn’t trust him.
