“There is something she seeks that she believes belongs to her family.” Sascha stood up with a grin spreading across her face, her long skirt billowing around her feet. “I have set a little trap for your mate. She thinks you will be gone away for business.”
Mythia rested her hands on her waist. “I’m not scheduled for anything.”
“I know,” Sascha giggled. “But the humans think you are going off to some elaborate meeting of dragons.”
“Why would the fates see fit to give me a thief?” Mythia began to pace in front of the fireplace. What had she done in life to warrant being matched with someone dishonorable? “There’s nothing in my castle that belongs to anyone else.”
“From what I can see in my visions, she’s not a bad person.”
Mythia whirled around and stared at her seer. “How many have you had?”
“A few. I wanted to make sure I was absolutely sure of who she was.” Sascha met her glare head on, and Mythia relaxed slightly. “I would never deceive you, my lady.”
“I know that.” Mythia sighed. “What are we to do?”
“Like I said, she is going to break into the castle soon. You will need to be ready for her.”
Mythia nodded. She would be ready for her little mate.
A thief?
Mythia would have to teach her woman a lesson. She was rich, having lived for centuries. There would be no need for the woman to steal ever again.
Mythia would lay the world at her feet.
“Can you show me what you saw?” Mythia whispered.
“I can try.” Sascha stepped in front of her and pressed her fingertips to Mythia’s forehead. Warmth spread across Mythia’s skin, and she gasped once she closed her eyes.
An image of the most beautiful woman appeared.
Big brown eyes. Long, luscious dark hair. Ruby red lips.
It was an image of her on what looked to be a farm. She smiled and looked up at the sky.
Then the vision disappeared.
Mythia’s heart rate began to increase. She memorized every feature of her mate, barely able to contain her excitement at finally meeting her in person.
Her dragon was an impatient beast. Two days was a long time to wait. She had searched for years for her, and now she learned the woman had been right up under her nose the whole time.
She opened her eyes and found Sascha staring at her.
“Don’t go searching for her.”
Either she had seen a vision, or she just knew Mythia well.
“Did you see—”
“No vision. I just know you, Mythia Zinfina.” Grinning, she patted Mythia’s arm. “Be patient. You’ve waited a thousand years to find her. Let her come to you.”
Mythia walked along the many priceless items she had collected over the years. Gold, diamonds, and paintings were just some of the treasures that filled the massive room. She reached down and plucked a gold Spanish coin from the sixteenth century. There was an oversized basket filled with them. The shield on the coin was that of Philip the Prudent, who had offered her payment with baskets of gold coins for her services.
Back in those times, those coming into power had dragons on their side. It was with her help he was able to claim some of his territories.
She remembered it as if it were yesterday.
Time sure flies by when you’re having fun.
