“Our destination is Black Hollows, Oklahoma.”

“Black Hollows…oh.” Stormey’s eyes widened. Black Hollows was the home of Princess Hegna Riskel. Her heart pounded at the thought of being so close to her crush. She settled back in shock. “Thank you for sharing.”

“Don’t ask any more questions. The only reason I’m telling you that is you are making this job easy.” Blondie grunted.

“Well, I’m glad,” she said. She folded her hands together on her lap. “Most people think I’m crazy for accepting vampires and wanting to be drafted.”

The vehicle was silent. She hadn’t expected a response at all from the two of them. She turned and watched the scenery pass by. Darkness surrounded them, and it was slightly comforting. She stared at the sky, wondering if her mate had been notified of her impending arrival. Was that person happy? Were they frantically getting their home ready for her?

“You’re not crazy,” Dark Hair replied gently.

Her head whipped around in shock.

He met her gaze in the review mirror. “Vampires are not all bad. My wife is a vampire.”

Stormey’s breath escaped from her. She didn’t want to get in trouble by asking any more questions. She was definitely intrigued that this big man was the mate of a vampire. She yearned to ask if he was part of the draft.

“I can see the question on your face, and the answer is yes. I was drafted. My wife is my entire world.” He turned his attention back to the road ahead.

Stormey smiled, her heart full of hope. She leaned toward the window and dreamed of her meeting with her mate.

It wasn’t long before they arrived at a small airport. She was escorted onto a private jet plane. The ride wasn’t long. Once they were on the ground, she was whisked away into another SUV.

Oklahoma was a state she had never visited before. Most of her life she had lived in the south. She had moved to Kansas to find employment. It was hard to find jobs in Alabama that didn’t involve her selling her body. It wasn’t uncommon for humans to move around the country to look for safe places to live and to secure work.

Stormey held back a yawn. She had been up for most of the day, and it was starting to take a toll on her body, but she refused to fall asleep. She sat up straight, taking in the area. It was hard to see with it being so dark outside. This was her new town, and she vowed to explore and get to know it. She wasn’t sure her vampire would be rich, and it didn’t matter. If the person was a vampire and had been around for a few centuries, she hoped they weren’t poor. That wouldn’t make sense at all. She bit back a chuckle at the thought.

Stormey was no stranger to hard work, and she wouldn’t mind getting a job. No matter if they were rich, she would need something to do with her time. Hopefully, when it was time to talk children, she could work part-time or quit all together. She was determined to be a fully accessible mother and would love to stay at home with her children.

The SUV turned down a long winding road. She took in a large body of water that was noticeable through the thicket of trees. Curiosity got the best of her.

“Are we almost there?” she asked.

“Yeah. We should be there in a few minutes,” Blondie answered.

Stormey jerked forward and reached into her bag. She pulled out her brush and ran it through her thick, dark hair. She wanted to ensure she looked her best for her mate. She finished and applied a coat of lip gloss. That was the extent of her makeup. It was a luxury she couldn’t afford.

Stormey tossed everything back in her bag and glanced up. She froze in place at the building coming into view.

A castle.

A freaking castle.

The air in her lungs was snatched out of her. She couldn’t breathe. There was only one castle that she knew of in Black Hollows and who lived here. Stormey shook her head. The fates couldn’t be this good to her. This had to be a joke, or maybe her mate worked at this castle and they were just bringing her here to meet them.

Dark Hair hit the brakes, bringing them to a stop in front of the stone stairs that led to the entrance.

She gulped.

“Who is my mate?” she asked. Her voice was hoarse and cracked at the end. She gripped her bag tight. This had to be a dream.

Yes, she must have fallen asleep in the truck. She reached over and pinched herself. The pain burst out from underneath the skin on her wrist where she had nipped.

She was awake.

Blondie got out of the car and opened her door. He held his hand out for her. She stared at it for a moment before sliding hers into his larger one. He assisted her from the SUV and shut the door.

“Miss Jaymes, you have been matched to Princess Hegna Riskel.” He bowed his head to her.
