She wanted more.
She wanted Dru to bite her again.
Dru stared down at the human on the bed bedside her. Tomesha rested in the crook of Dru’s arms. Tomesha had reacted as most humans did when they were first bitten. She’d gone into a euphoric state of pleasure, no pain. Dru reached up and brushed Tomesha’s dark hair from her face.
What was it about this human?
Besides the fact that she was gorgeous. Or that her cunt tasted sweet and divine. Her blood was like an ambrosia, addictive and delicious.
Dru had tucked them into the bed underneath the covers to allow Tomesha time to recover. With it being her first bite, Dru didn’t want to overdo it with her. She trailed her fingers down the soft skin, and for the time she’d spent with Tomesha, not once had she thought of her mission and why she was even in Butterbush.
That was a problem.
She’d been sent here for a job, and daydreaming about this woman in her arms didn’t fit into her plans. As she’d told her warriors, they’d indulge tonight, but then tomorrow, it was time to hunt down the traitor.
“Why did you let me sleep?” Tomesha’s husky voice broke the silence. She blinked and pushed up from where she lay. The blanket fell away, revealing her tantalizing body.
“How do you feel?” Dru ignored her question. She zeroed in on the area where she’d bitten her. The skin was darkening. Dru released a curse. She reached out and gently caressed the area. There would be a bruise by morning. She’d tried to be as gentle as possible, but the moment her blood had touched Dru’s tongue, she’d almost turned savage. She’d had to reel in the emotions that had whipped through her and regain control of herself.
Not once in all of her years had she ever lost control when drinking from a human.
“My neck is a little sore, but I’m told that is normal,” Tomesha said. A visible shudder went through her as Dru touched her skin. She licked her lips and smiled. “You aren’t what I expected.”
“Oh?” Dru arched an eyebrow. She was curious as to what Tomesha told her. “How so?”
“I don’t know. When they told me I would be given to a general, I imagined someone older, harsher, not as beautiful—” She paused, those brown eyes of hers wide.
Dru chuckled and reached for her. Even though she’d only known her for a few hours, she already didn’t want to stop touching her. She ignored the little voice in the back of her head.
This wasn’t uncommon. Two individuals could have chemistry between them. It didn’t mean they were destined to be together or anything.
Dru swallowed hard.
Tomesha wasn’t her mate.
She was just a human who was here to service her. She was being paid to be here with Dru. Any other time Dru wouldn’t have cared, but now it had her wondering.
Had Tomesha been faking?
She did work for the madam and had probably received training. She frowned as she thought of Tomesha’s body writhing on the bed while she’d feasted on her delicious pussy. Or how her muscles tightened around her fingers when she’d reached her climax, or how the juices had flowed from her.
No, Tomesha couldn’t be acting. No amount of training would portray the pleasure she’d experienced or the shouts, cries, and the way her body had responded to Dru.
Dru glanced back at her and found those beautiful eyes staring at her. She was obviously waiting on Dru to respond to something she’d said.
“What did you say?”
“I said, you took such good care of me that I need to return the favor,” Tomesha said. She pushed the blanket away from Dru and lifted her leg over to straddle her.
Dru straightened herself and rested back against the pillows. “Believe me, I got much pleasure watching you reach your climax.”
“See, that is what I’m talking about. I figured you would be a hardened vampire who’d just want to use me.” Tomesha brushed Dru’s hair away from her face.
“Is that what you’re used to?” Dru asked softly.
Tomesha’s expression shut down. She blinked and looked away for a moment. Dru immediately recognized the signs that it was time to change the subject. She didn’t want their time together to be awkward. She was enjoying the company of her little human.
“Well, miere, you aren’t too far off. I’m very old. I’m sure compared to you, I’m ancient.”
