“Mmm mmmm.”

She started doing this little grind shit with her hips under me.

“Cum for me, Papa,” she asked again.

She wouldn’t have to ask a third time. In a few more strokes, I backed out and nutted all over her titties. This woman was wearing the widest smile I had ever seen. While looking me in the eyes, she took her middle finger, scooped up some of my nut, and then put it into her mouth. I stared at her for a moment, all out of breath. I wondered if I had hit the jackpot or something; she was just as nasty as I was.

After I watched her get all my mess off her chest, I just kissed her when she finished. I got up from the bed and walked butt ass naked to her bathroom to piss and get her a warm rag. When I closed the bathroom door, I saw a gray rag and then another little rag that had some cartoon characters on it. I grabbed the gray rag and let it sit in warm water while I took a piss.

When I was done wringing the rag out, I walked back to the room and smiled at what I saw. This woman was lying on her back, knocked out with her mouth wide open. There was a lightsnore, and I chuckled lightly at it. As I started to wipe her chest clean, she began to squirm a bit.

“I’m just cleaning you up,” I assured.

“Good, now let me clean the mess I made.”

She opened her eyes and grabbed my dick before taking me into her mouth. I let my eyes roll back as I thought,This girl is nasty as hell.

When morning came, the sun peeked through the blinds, and I lay there for a second as I started to take in the night before. Cayla was still half asleep. Her hair was a mess of curls against the pillow, and she breathed beside me, slow and steady. I couldn’t help but stare for a second because she looked peaceful. Everything that was weighing down on her yesterday seemed like it didn’t even matter today. It hit me then, how easily I’d fallen into this moment. How natural it felt being there with her, all tangled up in these sheets with my arm resting around her waist. It was scary as shit. But peace always made me uneasy. It made me overthink.

“Cayla,” I said quietly.

She hummed and then crooked her neck back so she could see me. Her eyes fluttered open just enough to catch me watching her.

“Hmm?”

I took a breath, trying to find the right words.

“I don’t wanna get caught up in this hero syndrome thing. I don’t want you to think I’m just here to fix what somebody else broke. I’ve done that before, and it damn near took me out. I don’t need that for myself right now,” I honestly admitted.

This really wasn’t the kind of talk that should be had after getting my dick eaten up the night prior, but I needed the clarity for my own mental. Her brows lifted a little. I could tell that she was still sleepy, but I had her full attention. Now, she was really listening.

“I’m not saying I don’t care,” I continued, “I do. Maybe more than I should already. But what happens if all these signals I’m getting from you ain’t real? What if I’m just something you needed to feel better for the moment?”

She turned around until she was facing me fully. Her eyes met mine.

“Kass…”

Her voice was soft and even. If I had offended her with this talk after a night of sex, she didn’t let it show.

“You’re not a replacement. You’re not a fix. You’re somebody who showed up when I finally decided I didn’t want to hurt anymore.”

I studied her face, trying to read between every line and every blink. But all I saw was her raw truth.

“I’m here,” she whispered, “and not because Ineedsaving… but because I want to feel safe. You make me feel safe.”

Something inside me loosened in that moment. That guarded part I didn’t even realize I was holding onto tightly had started to fade. I reached out and brushed a strand of hair from her face.

“Alright,” I murmured, “then I guess I’m here too.”

Chapter 29

Orion

The house was loud. Way too noisy for a Saturday morning. Oriana was in her highchair, banging her spoon against the tray. At the same time, OJ ran through the living room in nothing but his Spider-Man drawers, yelling something about being a ninja. Ocean was crying for the second time in fifteen minutes. His face was red, and his nose was running. And then there was Brandi… her useless ass was on the couch scrolling through her phone like none of it was happening. I stood in the kitchen doorway trying to breathe through the noise. I was trying to make sense of all of this. How the fuck did I get here? The smell of oatmeal hung heavily in the air, but it was left untouched and cold on the stove.

“Brandi,” I said while rubbing my temples, “Are you gonna get him?”

She didn’t even look up.
