Not when he was looking at me with his lips tucked between his teeth. Or when his gaze was so fucking intoxicating and gripping.

“When was the last time you came?” he asked again.

I didn’t answer. Didn’t want to admit that it was last night, with thoughts of him guiding my hands.

His fingers slipped out. Then, a firm, wet swat landed right against my pussy. Not punishing, but firm enough to make me gasp and make my knees buckle.

“Oh... damn... you like that?” He chuckled softly. “How long Amore? A day?” He did the same motion again. “Two days?” He plunged his finger back in. This time moving with an urgency that left me breathless. I could only nod, unable to form coherent words as pleasure overwhelmed me. He was relentless.

“Fuck.” My walls began to spasm around his fingers.“Last night.”

That revelation only fueled him. “Did you think of me...when you touched yourself? Pleased yourself… were you wondering what my hands could do? Where they could get lost? How they could make you feel like this?” He punctuated his last point with a scorching kiss. It was deep, full of passion, and with the sole purpose of swallowing my moans as I came all over his fingers.

“I could clean that up... but you’re not ready for that” He pulled his hands from my panties then eased his drenched fingers into his mouth with a cocky grin. “Yeah, I’d lick that clean. Sweet.”

I was still catching my breath, my body trembling against the door, when he started adjusting my shorts like nothing had happened. Smoothing down the fabric, making sure everything was back in place.

“Sham will be your driver tonight,” he said casually, his tone completely business-like as he fixed the straps on my top. “He’ll stay out of your way, but he won’t be far.”

I blinked at him, slowly. I was still trying to process the orgasm, and the fact that he really brought me to ecstasy on the balcony of his home. His smug gaze let me know while he enjoyed every minute of playing in my pussy, this was also purposeful.

He in fact wasnotbehaving. Or playing fair.

“Are you serious right now?”

He looked up with that cocky smirk plastered on his face, knowing exactly what he was doing. “What?”

“You just—” I gestured between us, words failing me. “Are something else. You know that?”

His smirk deepened. “I think you like it.” He stepped back, now giving me space. “Seriously, I need you to be safe tonight. I got a few things I need to handle, and I can’t do that if I’mworried about you. Sham will know what to do. And know how important you are to me.”

Knowing that he was used to me pushing back, I understood why he was telling me this. I was aware of the stakes...knew that someone had threatened my life. Knew he’d been taking care of business all week. I’d be a fool to expect minimal security, even out here where it was presumably safer. Sure, the attack happened back in Georgia, but I wasn’t naive. Our enemies had the means and resources to find me anywhere. So, as much as I wanted to argue — would’ve argued — I complied.

“Okay.” I tilted my head back to meet his gaze.

He didn’t immediately respond, like there was more on his mind. This time the lust was gone and was replaced with a hint of something else... worry, maybe, but not the kind tied to fear. No, Teo feared no one.

This was different.

It was the kind of worry that came from not being able to control an outcome... or perhaps knowing something I didn’t.

My eyebrows raised. “Is there something going on that you’re not telling me?”

The tightening of his jaw gave me my answer. There was something, but he didn’t want to say. He pressed his forehead against mine. “That’s not what this is about. Tonight is about you... having fun.”

“I know, but I want you to tell me anyway.”

He sighed, giving in to my request. “Found that nigga Jeremy. He’s hiding out in Jersey.”

“How did you find this out?” I asked, recalling about how both Teo and my brother had been looking for Jeremy since the attack on my boutique. Up until today, they had no leads. He’d gone ghost. Jersey was a strange place to hide out considering my future husband had a strong chokehold on that region. It mademe wonder if being so close had anything to do with me? Or if he was truly trying to lay low.

If it was the latter, he had to have a death wish.

Teo looked at me briefly, choosing his words carefully. “Bash had some of his people run down every possible connection Jeremy might have had. It took time, but it seems like he has people in Newark. It’s nothing you need to concern yourself with.” He paused, the pads of his thumbs pressing more firmly into my sides. “I just need you to be safe. Just in case there’s more of them I don’t know about.”

I nodded, absorbing the information. But since we were on the topic of what happened at my boutique, I had to ask, “And what about Constance? Have you found out who attacked her?” I inquired, hoping for any new information.

The day I visited her in the hospital, I discovered she’d sustained three broken ribs. She also had severe bruising on her body and face, and suffered a concussion. It gutted me to know this had happened to someone who was so sweet, and wouldn’t hurt a soul. Every day, I called to get an update on her healing journey. Her parents were cooperative for the most part, largely because of the influence associated with my family’s name. But that didn’t stop her mom, dad, and younger sister from feeling resentment. Their daughter, and sibling was in the hospital because of me. Sure, they let me visit, even let me give my apologies, but there was palpable animosity toward me. Deep down they knew the attack wasn’t random, and she was a collateral victim in a larger conflict that had absolutely nothing to do with her, and more to do with what my family was into.
