What he didn’t want was the uncertainty, the knowledge that Ken might reach the conclusion that he couldn’t do this.

Them.

Because Nathan had been stupid.

“There’s something else,” he blurted out. He guessed Ken could think of it as him having learned his lesson—or the straw that broke the camel’s back. “I haven’t been in a proper D/s relationship, either… not offline, I mean.”

Nathan felt, holding back a wince, the second Ken held his breath, stood completely still.

“Okay.” The older man nodded. “Now get some rest, Nathan. We’ll talk later.”

* * *

Maybe stupidly, Nathan had thought—hoped—that talking later would mean before they left the room. Instead, Ken had helped him dress up and was attaching a leashed collar to his neck.

“Sorry I don’t have anything matching your beautiful rubber, baby boy,” he said as the click resounded heavily in the room.

Nathan panted through the muzzle, not much caring about the black shade of leather Ken had just added.

He’d asked him right before, if he wanted to follow him freely or he wanted a leash.

Nathan had felt that same overwhelming sensation return, but he’d chosen before it could overtake him.

He wasn’t sure if he would’ve been able to walk all the way to the owner’s office on his own, but the leash added a source of comfort. Reliability. A way to clear his head.

Ken had been on the phone with Lee earlier, locked in the bathroom. Nathan hadn’t made out what he’d said. He wasn’t sure he’d wanted to.

He wasn’t sure about what was going to happen once they made it to Lee’s office, but there they were.

Objectively, he knew that barely no one had noticed him crawling along the hallway or waiting by the elevator. It was nothing in comparison to the shows going on in the playrooms and halls. His body still trembled as they neared the big office door, Ken needing to give a sharper tug to the leash. Nathan worried he’d cut off his circulation before Ken was squatting down, offering his free hand to scent.

“Do you trust me?”

Nathan gave two barks. Soft barks.

“Nothing bad is going to happen,” Ken promised, scratching the skin behind his ear. “It’s just Ash and Lee. Ash is going to be on all fours like you, and we’re going to introduce you properly. Ash said he doesn’t want apologies, just to check in you’re all right, but you’re still going to apologize to Lee. Then you two can play and snuggle for a bit while Lee and I have a drink.”

A moan escaped before Nathan was nuzzling the skin under Ken’s knee. The words were soothing—rather, the tone and the affection Ken was showering with was. Even if he couldn’t quite understand where it was coming from.

“Good boy,” Ken praised again. “Just let us Daddies take care of everything.”

Easier said than done, but Nathan behaved and crawled the rest of the distance. He even went as far as getting inside the office without making Ken tug or fight for it.

He was being good.

Strange.

“You’re late.” Nathan’s heart leaped out of his chest when he heard Lee’s voice in a lower register.

It took him a second to process that he was talking to Ken. Another second to notice Lee was smirking ruefully and the two of them were clearly ribbing each other. Yet another second to notice Ash kneeling by his side, leashed just as Nathan was.

“Try to get your boy in full rubber and come back to me,” Ken teased back.

Lee shook his head. He seemed… fond, maybe, before he was tugging at Ash’s leash in a similar fashion to Ken, forcing them to meet in the middle of the spacious—and rather bare—office.

Ash and Nathan stood impossibly close, Nathan’s snout almost touching Ash’s uncovered face, neither of them sure of what to do next. It was Ash who started wagging his tail first, sparking his curiosity to sniff and get to know him like he’d seen those other pups in the videos.

He noticed Lee had to tug on Ash’s leash, warn him to slow down as they sniffed and circled each other, but Nathan didn’t care. It wasn’t immediate, but as he moved around, following Ash’s lead, he felt… lighter. Faster.
