“I put it on my desk.”

“That’s great,” Jace says, blushing. He leads them to the kitchen. He takes out a beer and offers it to Garrett.

“I’ve had three. I probably shouldn’t.”

“Ah. Three beers and you came to my door, huh?” Jace says, and puts a hand on his own chest, near his throat. A blush crawls past his fingers and up his neck. How low does that blush go?

I came to say thank youare the words Garrett should say. He forces himself to look away from the sweet hollow of Jace’s throat to his face.

The boy is watching him. Jace sets the beer down on the counter and takes a step closer. His head tilts, offering his mouth, close enough that their chests brush as Garrett drags in a deep breath. “I’m happy to be the person you call when you’ve had too much to drink,” Jace whispers.

“You deserve better than that.”

“I deserve to get fucked by a man desperate to have me. And if he’s a little rough and clumsy with drink… I don’t mind, actually.”

“Yeah? Why not?”

“Because I want to be good. I want to be what you need,” Jace confesses.

“Pretty boy,” he murmurs, which is not what he meant to say.

Jace smiles and then they’re kissing, Garrett hauling him closer, arm around his waist. “I love it when you call me boy,” Jace sighs.

“Yeah, I know. It suits you, too. You’re lovely. Would it help to know that I’ve thought of you often?”

Jace huffs. “No, that doesn’t help at all.” He swallows hard. “It’s none of my business. But is there… is there someone else? Is that the… uh, issue?”

“No. Nothing like that.”

“Then what? It doesn’t have to be serious. Just… casual or whatever.” And then his chin juts up and he gives Garrett a look that makes it clear this is costing Jace’s pride.

“Sweetheart,” he says, and kisses down Jace’s neck, wanting him to know that Garrett doesn’t take the offer for granted. He doesn’t have any interest in hurting Jace. Not even his ego. Jace deserves so much better than what he’s willing to accept.

“Honestly. It’s legal. I’m consenting. I’m a good person. I think I’ve proved I’m trustworthy, I—”

“I’m scared I’ll hurt you,” Garrett interrupts. Because it’s breaking his fucking heart to hear the boy try to convince him he’s worth caring for. Although he’s sort of surprised that’s the reason he came up with. “I’d be so fucking lucky to have you and I want you. I want you so much it scares me. I want you so much that I have to say no and you should be glad.”

Jace doesn’t answer right away.

“Wow. Okay, well, that’s not fair at all. You can’t say something like that to me and not rail me into next week. I mean… we’re adults. I can say no. I won’t do anything I don’t want to do.” His gaze narrows as he looks Garrett over. “But maybe that isn’t the problem?”

“Oh? What’s the problem?”

“The problem is that you know I like to say yes. I want to say yes to you and lose myself in saying yes to you. I think you’re uncomfortable with the fact that what I find pleasurable, how I get satisfaction, isn’t… normal.”

“Don’t say that.” Because that makes it sound like Jace is lesser and he isn’t.

He presses fingers to Jace’s cheek and down to his mouth, stroking along his bottom lip. Jace whimpers and presses his hands to Garrett’s chest, trying to tug him closer.

Garrett goes.

Jace leans against the wall. “I want you so bad. Just like this,” he says. “I could—” His hand goes down, palming Garrett through his suit. Garrett groans, pressing his face into Jace’s neck, nuzzling against his skin, resistance crumbling. He’s practically humping into the touch, he’s suddenly so desperate for it.

This is exactly what he needs.

A sweet boy to make him feel better. He nips at Jace’s neck and Jace offers his throat in a primitive gesture of surrender.

“Tell me what you want, Jace. Not me, not just pleasing me, give me something so I know you’re getting your needs met.”
