They traded places and she dropped a ball into his hand. He blew out a breath.Calm down, man. It’s just a friendly game of Skee-Ball. You got this.
After the first four balls hit the bullseyes, satisfaction began to hum on his skin and a small smile lifted one side of his mouth. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed movement. He made the grave mistake of looking over to find Megan shedding her jacket, that snug red shirt a beacon to his horny soul.
He was leaned over, his head turned to look at her. When she noticed, she smiled and wiggled her fingers in a wave. “Don’t mind me, I’m just getting hot.”
With her jacket folded over one arm, she tossed her head back, her long ponytail—that had fallen like a dark waterfall over his fist in his office—swinging down her back. Her head came back down and she fanned her face. “Warm, don’t you think?”
Her eyes danced in mischief, and his gaze traveled down to her breasts where her nipples stood like hard points, a siren song to that caveman inside him lurking to spring free. His crotch grew tight in his cargo pants and he glanced over at the young man. “Ricky,” he barked.
The young pimply-faced kid turned the color of Megan’s shirt at being caught ogling her. He snapped his mouth closed. “Sorry, sir,” he mumbled.
When Megan only smiled innocently, Aidan blew out a breath. “Son of a bitch,” he muttered.
The next two balls bounced off the back wall and ended up in the large circle with the least amount of points. He had four more chances to bring his score up but even if he hit the bullseye, he wasn’t sure he could do it.
He shot four more times and ended up thirty points shy. Megan clapped her hands and bounced on her toes when she turned to Ricky. To Aidan’s dismay, her jacket had magically ended up back on her body. “What do I win?”
Ricky showed her the wall of huge stuffed animals, and she chose a large yellow-and-black striped tiger. When she hugged it to her face, Aidan couldn’t help but laugh and kiss her smiling lips.
“You didn’t play fair, beautiful. You really are a bad girl.”
Her eyes gleamed, and her full lips curved in a smile that nearly stopped his heart. The lust she was giving off in waves to him was in complete contrast to the stuffed animal against her cheek. “Are you going to show me just how bad I’ve been?” Her voice dropped to where only he could hear.
“You bet your ass I am.”
“Good.” She slipped her hand in his and tucked the animal under her arm. “I’m ready for food now.”
“Let’s go. Let me take that.” The damn tiger was nearly as big as she was.
They walked toward the row of food trucks and trailers showing their wares at a slow leisurely pace, bantering back and forth about the Skee-Ball game.
“Aidan!”
He turned to find a couple he went to school with walking toward them.
“Margot, Rob. How are you guys?”
“Good, how about you?” Margot asked, her gaze wandering over Megan with curiosity.
“Good. This is Megan Gentry. Megan, this is Margot and Rob Davidson and their daughter, Abby.”
Margot extended her hand. “Megan, it’s nice to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
Megan’s smile stayed in place while her gaze slid to Aidan’s for a second before focusing back on his old high school friend. How does she know about me?her gaze asked.
“Well, it’s nice to meet friends of Aidan’s.” She looked down at the little girl. “Especially pretty girls like you. I love that pumpkin shirt. So pretty with all the glitter.”
Abby looked up at Megan, her big blue eyes wide. “Do you like glitter?”
Megan nodded. “I love glitter.”
Abby nodded. “Me too, but mama says it makes a big mess. But I just love it so much she lets me wear it anyway.”
The adults chuckled before Abby pointed at the tiger tucked under Aidan’s arm. “Is that yours?” she asked around a finger in her mouth.
“It’s actually Megan’s. I won it for her playing Skee-Ball.”
To her credit, Megan didn’t correct him, just narrowed her eyes and pursed her lips trying to hold back a smile.
