While so far, he seemed to be managing it fine with meds—though he couldn’t drink much with them—a less stressful lifestyle, and regular workouts, you couldn’t tell that Delaney Reynolds with the Hollywood smile had ever been anything but healthy a day in his life.

“Alright, see ya later, fellas.” She gave each of them a punch in the arm as her farewell when she walked away.

Aidan looked toward the bar and found Megan’s eyes. If he looked in a mirror, he knew he’d see the same expression in his eyes as he saw in hers. Her gaze traveled over his body before meeting his again. Across the crowded, noise-filled room, the hunger in her eyes was unmistakable. She wanted him as bad as he wanted her.

Rubbing a hand over his mouth, he stared at her through the crowd. It was as though time had slowed down and the place had gone on mute. She licked crimson-red lips and sent him a saucy wink before turning her attention to the woman in front of her, breaking the spell he’d been lulled into.

He dropped down to the stool so he wouldn’t basically announce to the whole place that he was hard as concrete and took a long pull of his beer. What he really needed to put the fire out in his gut would get him arrested.

But he feared there would be no putting out that fire until he fucked Megan Gentry’s brains out.

“Seems like she’s game to me.”

Landon sidled up to him, holding a cue stick in one hand, his beer in the other.

Aidan cleared his throat and drank his beer again before he could speak. “Yeah.”

“You going to go for it?”

Before Aidan could answer, Noah called him. “Aidan, you’re up.”

“Aidan needs a minute,” Landon said around a laugh.

Noah and Del walked over, studying him.

“Stop staring,” he snapped.

Noah tilted his head. “Are you okay? You look a little flushed.”

“I’m fine.”

“He likes a girl.”

Landon really was looking to have his ass kicked.

“She’s not a girl, you asshole.”

Del narrowed his eyes, a smile on his lips. “Interesting that you didn’t deny you liked her.” He dropped down on the stool next to Aidan, hooking his boots around the bottom rung. “Who is she?”

Noah leaned against the pool table, arms crossed over his chest. “Is this the woman from the car accident that you took in?”

It appeared they were no longer playing pool.Shit.

Aidan rubbed a hand down his face. “Yes. I do like her, okay? But she’s leaving town in a couple of weeks. And you know me. I don’t do the relationship thing. Love’s too much trouble.” And pain. He didn’t want to bear the pain.

Noah shrugged. “So what? If she’s up for some casual fun, what’s wrong with that?”

“Thank you,” Landon said, making a sweeping gesture with his arm. “We had this exact conversation this morning.”

“Seriously, man.” Noah turned toward the bar and then back to Aidan. “She’s fucking hot. What are you waiting for?”

Aidan scoffed. “That’s rich coming from you, Noah. When was the last time you had a casual fuck?”

“Last week.”

They all gawked at him, mouths open, eyes wide.

“What?” Landon asked.
