It was a quiet ride home, but Aidan’s senses were on high alert. It was as though his body was in tune to her every breath and every move. The air in the cabin of the SUV was so thick with sexual tension, it nearly stuck to his skin.

By the time he opened the front door to the cabin, he was so wound up he could barely see straight.

“I’m going to take a shower. Unless you need the bathroom first,” Megan said, gripping her jacket in both hands.

Aidan closed the door behind him, closing off any escape hatch he may have and so that he didn’t reach out and touch her. He shook his keys in his hand. “It’s all yours.”

She stared at him for what felt like an eternity before nodding and turning away without a word. He couldn’t read her eyes, but the pull from her was almost more than he could bear.

He lay down on the couch and flung his forearm over his eyes. While he didn’t date, he knew how to sweet-talk a woman into bed. What the fuck was he doing? She’d given him an opening and he’d blown it.

When the shower came on in the bathroom, he groaned and his cock grew painfully hard against the zipper of his jeans.

He’d imagined her in the shower before, but since the night by the lake, when he’d actually touched her skin, his thoughts were more erotic if that was possible. Her skin was soft and supple, and he imagined her moving that loofah thing all over her body, leaving behind that surprisingly intoxicating mix of lavender and vanilla scent. When she came out of the bathroom, the hot, damp air from the shower would smell just like her. And so would his bedroom.

He unbuttoned and unzipped his jeans and pulled his aching dick from his boxer briefs, squeezing it to relieve some of the pressure. He arched his back off the couch while working his hand down his length, wishing he was that loofah she used. Or the river of water that sluiced down her body, going in places that he wanted his hands and tongue to be.

Lost in the thought of her curves, the dips, and that one particular valley he wanted to become familiar with, Aidan almost missed the fact that the water was no longer running.

Shit.

“Aidan? You still out there?”

Double shit.“Yeah, what’s up?” he called back, but didn’t rise from the couch.

“I, um. This is embarrassing. I don’t have a towel. Can you bring me one?”

Triple shit. He’d forgotten to bring the towels out of the laundry area and back into the bathroom.

The universe was really testing his resistance with this woman.

Or the universe is telling you to give in and go for it, dumbass!

Yeah, that too.

“Sure. One second.”

After tucking it all back in and zipping up, Aidan retrieved a towel and went to the bathroom door, where Megan had it opened slightly and was hiding her body behind the door.

She smiled and reached out. “Thanks.”

When their hands brushed, they both stilled and stared at each other. The steam from her shower rose between them, looking like a vision coming from the mist.

Megan closed her eyes for a moment, and when she opened them, desire burned bright, causing her normal hazel eyes to turn a mossy green. “Aidan, please.”

Lust burned him from the inside out and yet his heart dropped to his knees hearing her plea. Had he been wrong? Had he read all her signs wrong?

“Please what?”

“I want you. Please put me out of my misery and fuck me.”

Somewhere in the back of his mind, he heard the chains snap. And without thinking, he moved forward, pushing open the door. Megan didn’t step back or step away—she just stood there, all of those glorious curves, wet and on display, lifting her chin.

Aidan wrapped a hand behind her neck, the wet tendrils of her hair cooling his heated skin along the back of his hand. “Are you sure this is what you want, Megan? Once I start, I won’t be able to stop.”

“Yes. If you stop, I might kill you.”

He wrapped his other arm around her waist and yanked her damp body up against him, crushing his mouth to hers. Her arms came up around his neck and she rose up on her toes, pressing herself against him.
