What was he doing? He’d just decided Aryn wasn’t for him, and now here he was inviting him to stay until Solstice. But maybe it would be nice to be able to spend Solstice with someone and banish the loneliness for a bit, even if it was with someone who wouldn’t stick around.
Aryn pursed his lips, brows furrowing.
“Only if you want,” Sero rushed to say. Of course Aryn didn’t want to stay. He was probably just being polite when he’d said it sounded incredible.
“It’s not that. I just… I was just wondering what my parents would say.” He stared at the fire. “Then again, they probably wouldn’t notice if I returned a few weeks late.” He laughed, but Sero couldn’t help but notice the bitterness in it. “Are you sure I won’t be in the way?”
“You can help out with the baking,” Sero said, perking up. “I’ll teach you!”
“Really? You’d let me help you?” Aryn asked.
“Of course.” Sero laughed.
“And would we get to have a repeat of last night again?”
Heat licked at the bottom of Sero’s spine as they gazed at each other. Sero nodded.
“Then I’d like to go to Ores with you and stay until the Solstice.”
Sero glanced towards the cave entrance to see the snowflakes falling faster and heavier. “But we’re not going back to Ores anytime soon. Not today anyway.”
A hand landed on his thigh, squeezing. Aryn looked at him through long dark eyelashes. Slowly he stroked his hand up Sero’s thigh, towards his quickly hardening cock.
Aryn licked his lips. “I’m sure we can think of something to do to keep ourselves occupied.”
Leaning forward, Sero captured Aryn’s lips in a hungry kiss, reminding himself that this was only temporary and that Aryn didn’t belong with him.
ChapterEleven
Aryn fought the urge to shiver. He didn’t want Sero to think him weak, but it was so cold. And it was always cold here! Except back in the cave. Especially when beneath the furs and with Sero’s body wrapped around him.
Why did we leave the cave?Because Sero wanted to show him something. It better be great to make up for this frigid cold.
Sero had given Aryn his own clothing to wear, including his big, furry coat. It was too large and shabby to be fashionable. No one in Bordertown would ever wear anything like it, but it was warm and smelled of Sero. So right now, he preferred it infinitely compared to one of his fine coats.
The night sky was cloudless and clear, sprinkled with millions of stars. The moon’s rays illuminated the forest in a pale-blue glow. The trees stood tall, trunks bare except for bunches of leaves at the top.
Sero walked beside him, wearing only his loincloth, his lean body bathed in moonlight. They’d spent the morning fucking, and Aryn probably should be exhausted, but watching Sero elegantly walking on the snow made him want to drop to his knees. Again.
He stumbled, feet slipping out from under him. He threw his arms out in front of him, landing with a thud in the snow.
“Oof! Fucking snow!”
Kneeling, Sero put an arm around Aryn. “Careful now.”
Aryn bit back another curse as Sero helped him to his feet. Why did Sero have to be so stunning and poised, whilst Aryn struggled with every step? Sero probably thought him an incompetent fool.
Standing, Aryn tugged at his borrowed clothes, trying to right them. He ran his hands over his hair, trying to control the locks, even if he knew there was no point. He just wished he could present himself properly to Sero. He didn’t want to look like an idiot in front of him.
Sero reached out a hand and brushed the snow off his coat. There was no scorn or derision in Sero’s gaze. “That’s better,” Sero said. Then Sero kissed Aryn, and any embarrassment Aryn felt melted away.
Aryn wrapped his arms around Sero’s body, his hands resting on the curve of Sero’s barely covered arse. Now he really wanted to drop to his knees.
It had never been like this before. He’d had good sex in the past. But at the moment, he felt insatiable, needy, and desperate, like a glance from Sero would have him spreading his legs and begging. He shuddered.
Sero broke the kiss. “Best keep going. I want to show you this before you become too cold.”
Sero taking Aryn’s gloved hand in his, they continued walking. Despite the freezing air, warmth bloomed inside Aryn as he concentrated on the feel of Sero’s hand in his own.
