“Yeah girl, what you and Shad got going on?” Star asked. She finally looked up from her phone.
“What? It ain’t nothing going on with us.”
“Looked like a whole lot of something to me,” Star said, and I co-signed.
“Me and Shad just like to have fun from time to time.”
“Since when? I’m your best friend and you haven’t told me about this,” I complained.
I told her ass everything and here she is holding out on me. Shantel was into girls the last time I checked and now she has come back over to the other side.
“I thought you wanted a girlfriend.”
“I did. I wanted Rashad too though. I still do. He was too fine to resist. We have our fun with and without extra women involved. That’s all he wants this to be with us though, fun, but not me. I want what you guys have. This is why I swore men off, they play too many games and don’t know what they want, women are like that. We’re sure of ourselves and what we want. He doesn’t want me to be with another man but isn’t willing to exclusively be with me, so I told him to kick rocks.”
I felt bad for my friend. I really did, but we all know the type of man Shad is. He hasn’t shown any ounce of monogamist characteristics since I've met him, so I don't know where her expectations came from. As we were talking the waitress came over with a dozen of red roses.
“These are for you, Ma’am.”
I smiled because my husband knew how to make a girl smile. I thanked the waitress and looked for the card.
It’s still a mystery to me, I haven’t got a clue,
How I got so lucky and found you.
I love you.
-Big Daddy
I was blushing super hard as I was reading the card. I love the fuck out of his ass. Now I’m ready to get this meal over and done with so I can get home to my man. Savage X Fenty had some cute lingerie for their maternity line and I definitely want to put on a show for my man tonight.
“They’re not as pretty as you, ya know?” I looked up from the roses.
“Terrance?”
“In the flesh. You know this has to be fate, right? We don’t keep running into each other for no reason.”
As always, I was blushing. Tel kicked me under the table and Star cleared her throat, bringing me out of a temporary daze.
“Oh, um this is my best friend Shantel and my sister-in-law, Star,” I introduced them. He smiled and greeted the both of them then turned his attention back to me.
“It breaks my heart that you haven’t used my number.”
He had captured me in his gaze again. This nigga is going to be in a world of trouble if he doesn’t stay away from me.
I lifted my hand to flash my wedding ring, “I’m married, Terrance so it's unlikely that I’ll be using your number.”
Just like before a hint of anger flashed in his eyes, only this time I wasn’t the only one to notice it. I locked eyes with Tel who silently verified that she saw it, too.
“Why is it that your husband is never around when I see you out?” Taken aback by his question, I absentmindedly backed up in my seat a little.
“Where my husband may or may not be is none of your concern. Look Terrance, I'd like to finish my dinner, so if you’ll excuse us.”
He nodded his head, “You got it. Be safe out here, Beautiful.”
He gave me a smile that didn’t meet his eyes. My chest got tight at that comment. Was he threatening me?
“I’m ready to go guys.”
