“Where you at, baby?” was the first thing that he asked her when the call connected. She laughed, while she threw her back against the couch.
“You have my location, June. You see that I’m at my sister’s house,” she responded to him.
“When you coming home then?” he wanted to know.
“I hateeee home,” she joked to him, and I couldn’t even help it because I ended up laughing at her dumb ass. She laughed right after she said it, and the fact that I didn’t hear June laugh let me know that he didn’t find it funny.
“That’s a fuckin lie. Seriously, when you coming home? Damn, we got a kid free night. I’m thinking I’m about to spend some quality time with my wife. You been road running with your sisters all day. When you leave Dionne’s crib, you coming home?” he asked her.
“We’re about to go to dinner. We’re waiting for Tommie,” she let him know, and I heard him suck his teeth, which didn’t do anything but make me laugh. June was obsessed with my sister. The two of them had come such a long way, and I was happy with the place that they were in right now.
“Aight. Bring your ass home after dinner. Who sitting next to you that keep laughing? That’s Dionne?” he asked, and instead of Free answering him, she just turned the phone, so that he could see that it was me.
“Dionne, what’s good? I heard ya’ll went shopping. I know you broke the fuckin bank with your shopping ass,” he let out, and I laughed, and we talked back and forth for a little bit.
Free put the camera back on herself, and she talked with her husband for a little bit longer. They eventually hung up, and seconds later, Tommie was making her way out of the bathroom. I looked up at her, and her ass looked refreshed.
Tommie had a weak stomach, and she couldn’t eat a lot of things without her stomach hurting. Dairy would really fuck her up. While we were at the mall, she purchased a Cinnabon, and she had it with milk. Both Free and I told her not to drink the milk because she knew what it would do to her stomach, but she opted on getting it anyways. The second we got in the car, and was getting ready to head to dinner, her ass was in the backseatgroaning, telling Free to take her to my house, since I was the closest, so that she could use the bathroom.
“Because that was dumb as hell of you. Why would you willingly drink milk, knowing what that shit is going to do to your stomach?” Free snapped on her, as she removed my feet from her lap, so that she could stand up. For Tommie to not even respond, that only meant that her stomach was probably still hurting a little bit because she wasn’t the kind of person that would miss an opportunity to go back, and forth with someone.
I stood up as well, and I picked Bagel up, so that I could walk him back over to his bed. I wasn’t the type of doggy mom that would keep my baby locked up in a cage. I didn’t even own a cage. The only time Bagel was in a cage is when I first purchased him, and that first month of potty training him. After that, I was able to train him to the point where he was such a well-behaved dog, and when I left the house, he wouldn’t destroy it.
“Where we going to go?” I asked them, after I stood up, and stopped loving on my baby.
“It’s this new lounge about twenty minutes away from here. They were hyping it up on TikTok. Supposedly, the food and drinks are good. They say that they play good music too. It’s a chill spot, so we are cool with what we have on. We don’t have to go super dressy,” Free announced.
My attire for this evening was super laid back. I was in a pair of light blue distressed jeans. They fit perfect around my waist, but the jeans themselves weren’t tight or anything on me. I wore a white, cropped tank top, which exposed my stomach. Before we went shopping this morning, I was up bright and early, going to the salon, so that I could get my hair washed, treated, and a nice blow out. Instead of getting my hair bone straight, I opted on some cute, beach curls, and it’s been hours later, and my curls were still intact. My Dior slides were sitting by the door, whichmatched my Dior purse that I grabbed from the kitchen counter, where I left it, once we were in the house.
We all had everything, so we walked out of the house together, I locked the door behind us, and we headed down to the elevator, where I had to use my key fob to even get the elevator doors to open.
“See, this is why I like you living over here. The security is top of the fuckin line. Just to get on the elevator, you gotta have a key fob. I like that because you don’t have to worry about somebody popping up on you, or trying to break into your house,” Tommie said the second we got on the elevator.
“Trust me, criminals are smart, so they’ll find a way,” is what I said, but it’s not what I wanted to say. I wanted to use Garrus as an example, but then I would be forced to tell my sisters what had taken place between the two of us, and I didn’t want to do that. They still didn’t know about it, and to be honest, I didn’t have any plans of saying anything.
We eventually made it out of the elevator, and we walked through the building, going out front, where valet was, and Free’s jeep was still parked out front. When we’d got here earlier, she asked them if they could leave her truck out front, since we were going to come back. She dug into her purse, handing the valet driver a tip, and he thanked her as he walked around the truck, opening all the doors for us.
I sat in the passenger seat, while Tommie got in the back, and Free was the designated driver. Before she pulled out, she put the name of the lounge into the navigation system, and I looked at the map, seeing the route, and I also was able to see what was near the lounge. The first thing that I saw was the Pilates spot that I used to go, along with the smoke shop named Pure 24k. This lounge that we were getting ready to go to was in the same plaza as Tank’s smoke shop. I saw that, scratched at my hair, and I sighed.
“Can we go to another spot?” I asked, as Free was pulling out of the valet area.
“No. Go to another spot for what? Me, and Free been wanting to check this spot out for weeks,” Tommie’s ass said from the back seat. I didn’t want to be the shit starter for tonight, so I just sighed, keeping quiet, not wanting to get into it with my sisters.
“Why don’t you want to go to the lounge anymore? Free asked me, as she stopped the car at a red light.
“Nothing,” was all I said, and she rolled her eyes at me.
“And I hope you get a fuckin drink when we get there too. I can already tell that your about to work my damn nerves,” Free spat, reaching for the nob, so that she could turn the music up in the car.
What would have been a twenty-minute drive, turned into fifteen because Free drove so fuckin fast. The plaza where the lounge was located was a busy plaza, so when we arrived, there wasn’t many places to park. The lounge offered valet, but the valet services had a sign out front, informing everyone that valet was full. Free had to circle this big ass parking lot, and before we knew it, we were on the side where Tank’s smoke shop was. I squinted at the sign on his door, so that I could see what time he closed, and it said that they closed at 9:00 P.M. It was about ten minutes after nine. I didn’t think that my sisters knew that that was Tank’s smoke shop because the second we saw it, they would have called it out. I only knew from when I saw him as I was leaving Pilates, and he’d told me.
“Here goes one right here. You almost got your wish Dionne because I was getting ready to leave, and find another spot,” Free said, turning her head to look at me. Someone was getting in their car, and Free turned on her turn signal, so that she could wait for the spot. Free damn near raced for the spot, drove past it, so that she could back in park the car.
“You drive so fuckin un-lady like,” I spat, which made Tommie crack up laughing from the back seat.
“My man loves it,” she shot back at me.
“I’m sure he does,” I sassed, opening the door, now that she had the car parked.
