Nick leans down, strong arms drop to my upper thighs, and he lifts me into his arms.

“That answers one question,” I say, breathless and giddy.

“What’s that?”

“Whether or not you can toss me over your shoulder.”

Another soft chuckle whispers across my lips. “Definitely. I’ll prove it later.”

He kisses me as he places me in the passenger seat of his truck. He stands between my legs, and I wrap myself around him.

The man is a very good kisser, and his hands are magic. They roam up and down my back, tangle in my hair, then around the sides of my neck, to my face, a thumb brushing across my bottom lip and his fingertips gliding across my cheeks.

I’m putty in his big, sporty hands. They drop back to my sides, and one holds my hip in place as his mouth travels down my neck to nip at my collarbone.

I’m vaguely aware of the seat belt moving around me and clicking into place, but it isn’t until Nick steps away and the air cools around me that my foggy brain makes sense of it.

My eyes open and my lips tingle. “What’s happening?”

“Taking you home, Red, before we end up naked in a bar parking lot.”

“Doesn’t sound so bad.” In fact, it sounds near perfect. The cab of the truck is a little small and confining for any sexual gymnastics but I’m so amped up on him it will take very little to do the job tonight.

He grins, winks, then shuts the door, closing me inside his truck.

NICK

The ride back takes an eternity. Neither of us says much, but I can read the thought bubbles over Ruby’s head and they’re in line with every dirty thing I want to do with her.

Any hesitations I had were lost the moment she admitted to thinking about me throwing her over my shoulder. I can’t stop picturing it and now I fully intend to show her.

The house is dark when I pull into the drive. I hop out of the truck and round the front. She’s already got her door open and seat belt off when I reach her.

“You sure you want to do this, Red?” I ask.

Her answer is to launch herself at me.

Chuckling, I wrap an arm around her to hold her in place while I shut the truck door. My steps are quick as I carry her to the cabin. Once we’re inside, I shift her up and toss her over my shoulder the way she wanted.

She squeals with delight. Navigating through the cabin takes some effort with only the moonlight streaming in through the windows as my guide. I’ve only been in here a handful of times since it was finished.

The bedroom smells like her. Everywhere I walk lately she haunts me. I have a feeling she will long after she’s gone too. I’m not about to let those thoughts in tonight though.

I bring her back down to stand in front of me. Her cheeks are flushed and her eyes big and expressive.

“This hair.” I push it back over her shoulders and place my hands along the column of her neck on either side. “I like it.”

She glances up, then blows a few stray locks out of her face. A giggle works free, but as soon as my hands glide down her shoulders to her waist, she quiets, and her pupils widen.

“Give me those inside thoughts.”

“Kissing you might be my new favorite sport.”

A laugh breaks free. I always think I’m prepared for what she’s going to say, but she keeps surprising me.

“I’m not sure that’s an official sport, kissing.”
