“Star still pissed?” Ink asks with a smirk, and Flame shakes his head and mutters, “Nah, more like she apologized to me. She said she would have forgotten too if her alarm hadn’t reminded her, but what pissed her off is she realized she was late…”
“You accidentally knocked her up again?” Smokey asks in shock, and my mouth drops as Flame winces but nods.
“I did, and I have to admit, I’m pretty proud,” he gloats while Tank asks, “Didn’t you just have a kid?”
Flame grins and admits, “Two years ago, yeah, Matty, and I told Star I wanted a house full, and I guess her birth control is on my side.”
I chuckle as my phone rings and I say, “Excuse me a second, brothers,” as I get it out, and the brothers continue to grill Flame on how Star is coping with being knocked up again.
A picture of Rose sitting cross-legged on her bed wearing only my shirt with a soft smile on her face from before she found everything out shows, and I smile, my heart skipping a beat.
She’s calling me, my girl is actually fucking calling me.
“Hey, how’s my pretty girl doing this fine morning?” I answer, “I would have thought you’d still be asleep.”
Rose clears her throat as Dirty runs over to me gaining everyone’s attention, and just as she says, “I need you to stay calm,” Dirty shows me his phone, and the footage from in front of Rose’s door shows my fucking sister dressed as a slut comes into view, holding a knife as she bangs on the door.
My whole body vibrates as Dirty states, “I just got the notification,” and Rose groans, “Dammit, Dirty!” who winces so he must have heard her.
“What’s going on?” Smokey asks as he walks over, seeing the tension.
I reply, “What’s going on is my wife is going to explain to me why she didn’t call me as soon as she opened the fucking door to my lunatic sister holding a knife!”
Smokey’s eyes widen as every brother freezes while Rose mutters, “It’s so freaking weird when you call me wife and don’t call your sister a lunatic again!”
“Please tell me you are not sticking up for her, Rose?!” I snap, “She could have killed you.”
Rose sighs, “No, she wouldn’t have, her hand was shaking, and honestly, she’s been manipulated by your crazy ass ex-wife you never told me about.”
“Nope, no, you are not going to use that as a way to get me to go easy on Selena. I know I messed up, and I’ve been making sure every single day that you know how sorry I am for that and that I love you, but my sister threatening you with a knife is not fucking okay,” I snap, and the brothers wince already seeing my error.
“You did not just snap at me,” she replies in a threatening voice, but I don’t mellow. I say, “Think of it this way, Rose. What if your sister did what mine has just done when she knows how much love you hold for me?”
“Well, for starters, my sister loves you to pieces, so that will never happen,” she says with sass that the brothers obviously can hear by their chuckles, fuck even I smile a little, and she states, “Your sister was manipulated. Your ex-wife saw she had no real friends because of the club and used it against her. She needs guidance and help from all the crap that was put in her head, and while I’m at it, why didn’t you tell me you hit a nun with a stone?”
My eyes widen as the brothers laugh their ass’s off, and I choke, “How fucking long did she stand at that door?”
“Uh, brother,” Dirty laughs, “she didn’t just stand at the door,” he informs me as he turns his phone back to me, and I see my wife guiding a tearful Selena into her apartment, and I sigh.
Fuck’s sake.
“You and your big heart,” I mutter.
She hums and reminds me, “Me and this big heart haven’t kicked you to the curb like you deserve yet,” and I narrow my eyes.
“That will never happen, I’ll tie you to my bed first,” I threaten, and she’s quiet for a moment before she replies, “That sounds kind of kinky…”
I choke out a laugh, and she sighs, then whispers, “She’s hurting and confused, Cage, don’t take your anger out on her, listen to her and understand where she’s coming from.”
“She could have hurt you, red,” I remind her.
She replies, “I know, but she didn’t. She just wants to feel like she belongs and having someone like your ex-wife in her ear, for what, eleven years, it’s bound to screw her up a little. I mean, she’s twenty-one, so she was ten. She’s had your ex-wife in her head since she was ten, and you missed it, so if you want to blame anyone for this, take a good, hard look in the mirror, Cage.”
Well, there is nothing like a fucking lecture from the woman you love to put things into perspective and to calm you down.
“You’re not going to stop calling her my ex-wife, are you?” I confirm making the brothers grin as Rose replies, “Nope,” adding a pop to the ‘p’, and she reminds me, “You lied to me, so now I get to use it against you whenever I like.”
“Your wife has sass, brother,” Ink states the obvious, and Rose admits, “I got it from my mama, Daddy would agree,” and I laugh, shaking my head.
