“Yes, baby,” he whispers as he nibbles at my bottom lip.

“This is not right,” I push him away a little. We are both out of breath, ready to devour each other again. But I know it’s wrong.

“Nothing ever felt this right to me,” he growls into my face. “Do you understand? Nothing!”

“We need to talk though…”

“I love you.” The desperation in his voice is obvious, and it’s breaking my heart, but I will not relent. I have my baby to think about.

“No.”

I remember when, in what feels like a lifetime ago, I texted him to say that I wanted to see him again. I got a one word response at the time.

No.

He later explained to me that life with him would be too complicated and nothing I’d want to be involved in. He was right, it just took me a long time to realize it. And because of that, I just have to push him away for good.

“No,” I repeat.

If I were a lesser man,I’d have walked out after Becca’s rejection from last night. I would’ve done the same had I still been Wrecker, I realize with a snort. Instead, I decided to play it smart. She thinks she doesn’t want me in her life anymore. I’ll just have to change her mind.

“Okay, so how do I get inside the house now?” Colton interrupts my wayward thoughts about his sister. He is standing by the front door where Sully just installed the panel for the top of the line security system we just installed. He and Puck did a tour yesterday while the rest of us were busy visiting with the family. That sounds very weird and totally domesticated. Me, domesticated. If the club brothers could see me now.

“You have the app on your phone,” Sully points at the device in Colton’s hand. “You log in, tap the code in and hitDisarm.”

“But what if I don’t have my phone on me?” he asks for probably the tenth time now, reminding us all once again that he really is a kid stuck in a giant’s body.

“Who doesn’t have their phone on them nowadays, dude?” Sully looks at him in disdain.

“What if the battery died?” Colton won’t quit, although, I have a feeling that he’s just fucking with Sully now that he knows his questions are annoying him.

“Then you unlock the fuckin’ door,” Sully sighs, “and you have thirty seconds to enter the code and disarm the alarm.”

“What if I forget the code?” Yep, he’s definitely fucking with Sully.

“Dude,” Sully finally catches on to what the not so little shit is doing. “I’m gonna kick your ass and break your throwing arm. What the fuck?”

Colton turns his head and grins at me. “It was awesome while it lasted,” he shrugs.

“Sure thing,” I agree.

My hand automatically goes to the pocket of my hoodie where I expect to find my pack of smokes. But not only that it’s not there, I remember Becca telling me that she will not stand for me smoking around her and the baby. Maybe I’ll do it while she’s at work, I decide.

And speaking of that, she should be coming downstairs any minute now. We fought long and hard about me taking her to work every day, then picking her up. She lost, and she’s not happy at all.

“I can take Becca to work if you want,” Sully is suddenly standing next to me, staring at me with so much concentration, I’m getting twitchy.

“Why the fuck would you do that?”

“To give you a break,” Sully shrugs, but there’s more to it than that, I can tell.

“A break from what?” Because seriously, I got nothing better to do. “And aren’t you supposed to be looking for a new office building or some shit?” I remind him about this new business he and Puck are supposed to be working on.

“We’re gonna do more from the house,” Sully shrugs. “It’s actually in a good area to be used as a business office.”
