“What doyou mean there’s nothing?” I question Puck like he’s under investigation. I’m about to slap him upside the head, too.

“We both looked through the last twenty-four hours of footage,” he says, pointing to himself and Sully. “We have two of the cameras in your yard pointing right at the area where Becca said the woman told her the intruder had been.”

“I’m going there later today,” Sully announces out of nowhere.

“Where?” I lift my gaze to him.

“Jessica’s house. She called to inquire about installing a security system,” he explains.

“Fuck,” I rub my hands up and down in relief. “Good deal. Make sure you hide those cameras better than ours, and they need to show our place, too.”

“They hacked us,” Puck concludes as he stares at the wall pensively. “We’ll have to beat them at their own game.”

“We’ll have to put some extra cameras on her property without giving her access to them,” Sully comments from the side.

“Take care of it,” I nod at him. “Send me the bill.”

“Speaking of that,” he grins at me, which also makes Puck turn in his seat. They’re both staring at me like fools.

“What’s up?” I eye them both apprehensively.

“Seeing as you’re staying in the wonderful state of Montana,” Sully starts, Pucks snorts. “We want to make you an offer you cannot refuse.”

“Which is…?” I cross my arms over my chest and continue staring at them.

“You become an equal partner in our security business,” Sully speaks first, but then Puck takes over.

“There’s a catch,” he jumps in.

“There always is,” I smirk.

I’ve been thinking more and more about where I want my life to head going forward. I am obviously staying. I am obviously not very good at the lone wolf gig. Going into business with my two club brothers is not a bad idea.

“We need you to be the boss of it,” Puck says really fast, almost making me laugh.

“What?” I snort.

“We love what we do here,” Sully points at the computers and cell phones. “But we hate the actual running of the business,” he shrugs. “We need you, man.”

I pretend to think on it. There’s not much to think of. They are the pack I need at my back. It’s a small pack, but it’s better than no pack, right? And there are no better people to have at my back, I know that.

“What’s in it for me?” I finally ask.

Puck swivels on his chair to look at Sully. “He wants to know what’s in it for him,” he says with disbelief. “Dude,” he turns back around to look at me. “What the fuck is better than us? You’re getting us, that’s what you’re getting.”

“You know you just want me for my money, Puck,” tease him.

“Yeah, that don’t hurt either,” he cracks up. “Seriously, brother,” he drops the funny act. “We need you. Stay here with us.”

“On one condition,” I announce, even though, I know I am in, no matter what.

“If you’re gonna wanna make out, it’s a hard pass from me,” Puck snickers, always the life of the party.

“You do not sleep until this shit with Bricks or whoever is fucking with us is resolved,” I look at both of them pointedly.
