I take a deep breath in and let it all out.
“Look how long it took me to be in any kind of shape after all the kids. And I worry that you…”
His mouth slams over mine with no warning. He walks me back until I feel the bed behind us, then pushes us both down. We land on the soft mattress, with Puck perfectly aligned above me. My legs instinctively go around him, locking behind his waist. Maybe that’s what my problem is, I think to myself. I can’t keep my legs closed when my husband is around. No wonder I’m always pregnant.
“Remember when you used to tell me that you wanted lots of babies?” Puck reminds me when he allows us to breathe again.
“I do.” I give him a teary eyed smile. “But I thought we already had lots of babies. I thought we were done making them.”
“Babe,” Puck grins into my face. “We have five. What’s one more?”
“It’ll be chaos, Puck,” I gently remind him. “The older kids will be so pissed. Remember when Tyler was born? And they were mad that he was crying so much?”
“They’re older now.” He smooths the hair out of my face as he tries telling me all the words that would make me feel better. “Tommy and Missy can help more with the baby now. They can change diapers and give bottles…”
“Puck,” I push at his chest. “Tommy will be a teenager by the time this baby comes. And Missy is already…”
“God, don’t remind me.” He drops his face into my neck and groans in distress. Missy is eleven now. She hasn’t gotten her period yet, but I can tell she’s getting there. Her body is changing as well, much to Puck’s distress. “I’m gonna kill any fucker who even dares to look at my girls.”
I smile at how distraught he sounds. I wrap my arms tightly around his neck while my legs are still safely around his waist.
“You think we’ll be okay?”
Puck lifts himself off so he can look at my face.
“Babe, we’ve never been better.”
Noise from the door brings our attention to it. I chuckle when I see it cracking open ever so slowly, then Alayna’s head poking through the opening. The door slams shut just as quickly.
“Ewww, they’re kissing,” her disgusted comment echoes out in the hallway. She is my nosy girl. She got that from me.
“She’ll never learn,” Puck snorts, echoing my thoughts.
“I’m nervous about telling them,” I confess to him.
“You weren’t nervous to tell me,” he teases, his thumbs wiping at the corners of my eyes where tears are still threatening to fall.
“No,” I laugh. “I came home ready to kill you. But now that I told you…”
I stop talking and just stare at him. My heart grows in my chest at the thought of another baby. Puck’s baby.
“Told ya,” Puck drops another kiss on my lips before attempting to lift himself off me. Except, I don’t want to let go of him. “Babe, I’m going to fuck you into this mattress in the next two seconds.”
I grin at him. “Promise?”
“You know that nothing would stop me once I got going. Not even the five children waiting outside the door,” he reminds me with a laugh. I instantly let go, making him laugh harder. “Come on, we have a surprise for you.”
I watch him walking to the closet where he drops the towel he had around his hips. Puck hasn’t had any trouble keeping the weight off or following his workout regimen over the years, and it shows. Damn him. Damn all the men. Blake and Dylan are the same, and even my dad, who is older than all of them.
“What’s the surprise?” I ask him when he walks back out.
He has a pair of jeans on that he paired with a long sleeved t-shirt. My favorite look on him. I eye his feet. He doesn’t have any socks or shoes on, so I’m assuming we’re not going anywhere outside the house. I throw my shoes off as well.
“About time,” Tommy rolls his eyes at us when we walk out of the bedroom. “What took you so long?”
“Are we getting a new baby?” Tyler jumps up and down in excitement, and my mouth drops.
“Ty, why would you say that?”
