Puck
My dearest Lucas,
Don’t ever get too comfortable, and never take anything for granted.

“Becca,” my new brother-in-law speaks into his phone. “It’s Wyatt. How is he?”
We left the house three hours ago, give or take, and now, we truly are in the middle of nowhere. True to Devereux’s word, Malone blocked the road, one hour each way. This is the perfect stretch, where there are no other smaller roads crossing this one, so we don’t have to worry about anyone stumbling onto us and witnessing anything they shouldn’t, completely by mistake.
“What’s the status on Wreck?” I ask Wyatt after he finishes the phone call. From what I was able to gather, there are no good news just yet.
“Still out,” is all he says. There’s nothing else left.
Today’s mission will end up being one of two things. Revenge for the attack on Dylan, his woman, and, really, all of us.Or, revenge for Dylan Knight’s death.
Let us hope that it will turn out being the former rather than the latter.
We all remain quiet in our van as we follow the large ambulance that carries Bricks and Snake. We are so close to the point of no return.
Neither one of us says a word when the van we’re in stops. The ambulance in front of us goes for another half a mile until it stops as well. It takes a few moments for all the dust to settle, and then we see the driver and his passenger getting out. The driver is one of Malone’s guys. The passenger is my brother. Sully.
The more I think of Sully as my actual brother, the more I love it. Looking back, I now understand better all the times he came to my rescue. Every time I needed help, he was there. He always knew when I needed him.
Now, I am getting restless, watching him as he walks away from a vehicle that is about to blow up. He is so far away from where we are, he looks small into the distance.
“Come on, man, knees to chest,” I mumble to myself, but Wyatt hears me.
“He’s super laid back,” he laughs. “I don’t know how you two are related.”
“Fuck if I know,” I admit. “But I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
Deveraux brings my attention to him when he clears his throat.
“I’m glad he finally told you, Mr. Puck.”
I stare at him for a second, trying to process what he just said. I realize that I never asked him something very important.
“How is it that you even knew?” My voice becomes high pitched when I question him.
“I would have never allowed for him to join you and Dylan here had I not vetted him beforehand,” he informs me in his cool tone.
“Why didn’t you tell me then?”
He waves me off. “I figured he’d tell you when he was ready. Or that you’d find out on your own at some point.”
“Jesus,” I roll my eyes at him. “Thanks a lot.” I pause before saying, “Dad.”
The smile taking over his face is almost scary. He looks… happy.
“Hey,” Wyatt pushes at my shoulder. “You can’t call him that before I do.”
I throw an arm out toward Devereaux. “I ain’t stopping you, brother.”
As soon as the word leaves my mouth, we hear a loud boom that literally shakes the ground.
“Fuck,” I yell out when I see Sully in the distance. He is running now, as fast as he can while debris is falling all around him.
