While I can’t see his full face, I can tell he’s grinning when he talks.

“For me? It’s much appreciated, babe.”

The way he calls mebabe, it’s like we’re in a movie. Where I come from, people are extremely polite and they don’t share feelings, especially not with strangers. My mother would die if she saw me right now, with my bare legs around a stranger I met on the internet, telling him how I shaved my legs for him.

The closer we get to our destination, the more agitated I get. I don’t want this night to end with just him dropping me off. A plan hatches in my head, but I have to be very careful how I put it in application.

“Okay, I’m turning right,” Ray calls at me over his shoulders. “Now what?”

I tighten my legs around him and bring my mouth closer to his ear. “One more block,” I whisper.

Ray’s fingers tighten once again around my legs, making me wish for things that he could do to me.

The hotel comes into view. It is swanky and caters only to people who are on the higher end on the income pole.

“I don’t have my apartment here.”

I’m not lying—my apartment is in Boston.

“A friend who is visiting from out of state is letting me use a room in her suite here. Temporarily.”

I am the friend, and I am here temporarily.

“Whoa, Pope Benedict.” Ray stops in front of the entrance, his head going back as he takes in the majestic building. “This is fancy. How lucky are you, huh?”

I’ve always lived in luxury, but I’ve never considered it luck. That’s all I’ve ever known, not like I just stumbled upon it.

When Ray is about to walk us into the building, the doorman stops us.

“Hold my shoes,” I order to Ray and he thankfully listens without question.

After a bit of struggle, I manage to pull out my pass from my purse. The doorman’s eyes go big in surprise at seeing it. It is Platinum level, which is the highest it would go.

“Welcome back, miss.” He lifts his cap off his head and gives us a polite nod. “Sir.”

He opens the door and steps to the side, allowing us entrance.

“You can put me down now.” I tighten my legs around Ray’s hips one more time. “The floors are clean in here.” They actually sparkle.

Ray hesitates for a second before releasing me from his hold. He once again bends himself at the knees, allowing me to slide off his back with ease. He hands me my shoes and shows no sign of wanting to leave.

I debate for a second if I should push him for more. But really, what do I have to lose? The worst that could happen would be him rejecting me. But I have a feeling that he won’t.

“Would you like to see my room?”

EIGHT

The girl hasfriends in high places. Walking through the doors of this hotel is like how I imagined entering a royal palace. The luxury and opulence are a bit overwhelming. I can’t imagine spending money like this.

“I am on the eighteenth floor.”

I look at Hayden like she just sprouted a second head. How in the fuck can she afford this place? I am having second thoughts about going up there with her. I’m fairly sure by now that she would be an easy lay, but I don’t think it’s worth it. Something is off with her. I don’t want it to come and bite me in the ass at a later date.

“Listen, Hayden…” I stop in the middle of the lobby and stare at her. “I don’t think this is a good idea. I can walk you to your door, but I’m not sure what the point to it would be.”

The shock on her face is amusing me. She is not used to anyone saying no to her, that much is obvious. Apparently, I was a sure thing as well. And now I’m not.

“What are you saying?”
