My leg started to throb, and I debated how quiet I could be with my crutches if I went to the kitchen for some water to wash down one of the pain pills they’d sent me home with.

Fortunately, I heard Jade’s bedroom door squeak open and her soft footsteps move down the hall. I made a mental note that when I was back to walking unassisted, one of the first things I was going to do was come back here with some lubricant for all the noisy things in her house.

I wondered if that would include the owner. How noisy would Jade be if she was properly lubricated? I would love to find out.

Fuck.

Wrong train of thought.

I’m a houseguest. I don’t need to be thinking about making Jade scream my name.

Or what she’d taste like.

Or how it’d feel to be inside her.

Son of a bitch.

Now I needed to focus on the pain in my thigh so my erection would go away, and I could hobble to the kitchen and take my medication.

Fortunately, it didn’t take long for my dick to go limp enough that it wasn’t tenting my pajama pants, and I used my crutches to make my way down the hall.

I almost missed a step when I saw her sitting at the table with one foot on her chair and her arm hugging her knee as she drank something from a mug and scrolled through her phone. Her hair was mussed from sleep, and she was in a baby-pink pajama set consisting of short-shorts and a spaghetti strap top.

And she wasn’t wearing a fucking bra.

Her side boob made my dick say, “Hey girl…”

Son of a…

I coughed gently to announce my presence without startling her and moved as quickly as I could behind the island to hide my tented pajama pants.

She looked up and smiled while she dropped her leg. “Hi. I hope I didn’t wake you. I tried to be quiet.”

“No, I was awake. My thigh’s hurting.”

“You need to stay on top of that. Don’t let the pain become unbearable before taking something.”

“I won’t—Doris drilled that into my head. Besides, it’s gotten a lot better in the last twelve hours.”

She said, “That’s good,” then stood to refill her mug with water from the fridge door before popping it in the microwave for seventy-five seconds. I noticed a tea bag string hanging over the rim.

“Do you want some tea? I have chamomile, herbal decaf, or green with caffeine. I also have water, soda, or coffee.”

“Nothing stronger?” I quipped as I opened a cupboard. I guessed right on the first try and pulled out a glass then hopped to the sink and turned on the faucet.

Jade leaned with her backside against the counter near the microwave as the timer ticked down. “I know you’re just trying to get a rise out of me, becauseIknowyouknow better than to mix alcohol with your pain meds, so I’m not even going to dignify that with a response.”

I popped my pill and took a drink then grinned at her.

“Aw, it’s no fun when you don’t take the bait, Sunshine.”

Her only response was to shake her head with a subtle smile before she opened the microwave, then nodded toward the refrigerator and said, “I have filtered water. And ice.”

I took a long pull from my glass, then poured out the remaining water in the sink. I noticed the placard on her dishwasher was slid to ‘dirty’, so I opened the door and placed it on the top rack.

“Thanks, I’ll remember that next time. Are you hungry?”

“Not yet.”
