Now that I wasn’t flashing the entire island, I went to the window to watch the activity below. I wasn’t paying attention to Weston, until I heard him order my strawberry waffle topping on the side. I turned and shot a confused glare at his back. My thoughts immediately went to the jerk alpha who had tried to dictate my order based onhispreferences. Why had Weston asked for it on the side?

Unaware of my suspicions, Weston turned and smiled at me. “Breakfast should be here in a few minutes,” he said cheerfully. Then, before I could say anything, he added, “I got your strawberry topping on the side so it wouldn't make your waffle soggy on the way down.”

Oh. Wow. Thank god I hadn’t said anything; as it was, I was embarrassed I had thought he was up to something. “Thank you, that was thoughtful,” I said.

Weston shrugged. “No problem.” He shook the wrinkles out of his shirt and pulled it on. “Good thing we’re leaving today, otherwise we’d have to buy clothes.”

I chuckled in agreement.

When he was done dressing, he sat down and started looking at something. I realized it was a flyer for Mackinac Island.

“We’ll have to take a ferry,” he commented. “No cars.”

“Oh, that’s right,” I said. That was going to be a pain.

“I wonder if they have a hotel…” Weston said, flipping a page.

“Thinking of staying?” I asked.

He shrugged. “My sister came here once and raved about it. And it does look kind of fun; I could see myself spending the day exploring and then figuring out how to get home tomorrow.” Weston’s eyes roved over the page and he shrugged again. “I mean, if I'm going to be forced into a vacation, I might as well enjoy a little bit of it.” His eyes met mine and his mouth curled into a small, almost shy smile. “Not that some parts of it haven't already been enjoyable...”

I flushed at the sentiment and then nodded toward the flyer. “Can I take a look when you're done?”

“Yeah,” Weston said, handing it over.

It did look like a fun day trip and Weston was right, if I was going to be stuck on an unexpected vacation, I might as well enjoy it.

“You know this does look fun,” I said slowly. “Too bad we're too late to sign up for any of these excursions.”

“Maybe not,” he said. “Is there one you're interested in?”

“This one looks kind of good,” I admitted.

Weston sat down next to me on the bed and leaned over, putting us shoulder to shoulder. I could swear my heart rate sped up at the contact.

“Horse-drawn carriage sightseeing?” he read. “That does look fun. Maybe we should see if we can sign up…”

As he spoke, room service arrived. We enjoyed a lavish breakfast and then Weston volunteered to go see if we could get on the trip, allowing me to avoid the alpha jerk. While I appreciated it, I went anyway.

We got caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyone excited to depart. As luck would have it, there was still space on the trip and it was just minutes away from departing! Weston and I raced halfway across the ship to make it in time.

It wasn’t until we were settling in on the carriage – which ended up being quite a bit more romantic than I expected – that we remembered we hadn’t filled out the forms yet.

Too late now. We agreed we’d just take care of it later and enjoy the tour.

Chapter Six

Weston

The tour itself was lots of fun; Shea made a wonderful travel companion. I was almost disappointed when it was over and we were told we could head back to the ship at our leisure, as long as we got back by the all aboard time.

“That was great,” Shea said, turning to look back the way we had come.

“Yeah,” I agreed.

We shared a grin and I felt an odd reluctance to get back on the ship and fill out that form. It occurred to me thatIdidn't have to leave. Finding out I was spending a week instead of two hours on a cruise had been a surprise, but I was starting to enjoy myself. There was no reason I had to depart… but I couldn’t help but wonder if I’d have as much fun alone. I cast a look at Shea as he took in our surroundings.

“Do you think we should get a bite to eat before we get back on the ship?” he asked.
