Order placed, I hurried down to the room.

Chapter Five

Shea

After Weston left the room I headed out to the balcony and sat down. It was chilly but the fresh air was wonderful and the little balcony was so private and peaceful, I could have been the only person on the whole lake as far as I was concerned. The view couldn't be beaten either.

I looked out of the water for what I thought was just a few minutes, but when I finally pulled out my phone I saw that I had been sitting for almost half an hour staring at the water. I chuckled at myself, then pulled up a book I had one-clicked several months ago and haven't gotten a chance to start. I settled back and started reading.

I didn't normally finish an entire book in one but to my surprise I flew through the pages and before I knew it, I was done and a couple of hours had passed. It was a little chillier now, so I went into the room to look for something to cover myself with; I didn't want to pull the entire blanket off the bed. To my delight there were two fluffy bathrobes in the closet. I wrapped one around my shoulders and went back outside and settled down. I decided to go ahead and let my team know I wouldn’t be working the following morning, but that I’d be checking my emails periodically. There were perks to being the manager.

With that taken care of, I browsed for another book and then got comfortable. Somewhere in the middle, I was interrupted by a gentle knock on the sliding glass door, followed by the sound of it opening. I turned to see that Weston had returned.

“Hey,” he said.

“Hey,” I replied.

“Have you eaten anything since brunch?”

I realized that I hadn't. In fact, I was quite hungry now that I wasn’t distracted by the book.

“No, we should probably get something.”

“I actually just ordered room service,” he said. “It's on the way.”

“Oh, thanks. What do I owe you?”

“Nothing at all; meals are included.”

“Well, great. Thank you for thinking of me.”

“Of course,” Weston said with a smile.

I followed him into the room and looked around for the food.

“It should be here soon,” he said, correctly guessing what I was looking for.

I realized belatedly that I still had the bathrobe wrapped around me; I hung it back in the closet feeling a little embarrassed. If Weston thought anything of it though, he didn’t say anything.

“What’s the ship like?” I asked.

“It's nice,” he said. “I found a couple of restaurants and bars. Some activities. It would be a fun place for a vacation, had I been planning one.”

“Yeah,” I chuckled.

“How’s the view?” Weston gestured to the balcony.

“It’s beautiful. Weather’s great too. I was worried it would be too cold, but it was perfect.”

There was a knock at the door. Weston opened it and stepped back to allow a woman to roll in a cart of food. I watched, stomach churning, as she laid out several large, covered plates of food on the table.

“Thank you very much,” Weston said as he started to pull out his wallet.

“No need for cash, thank you, sir,” said the woman. “You can include a tip on the receipt on the table there. All additional expenses are billed at the end of the voyage.”

“Oh, perfect. Thank you.”

The woman nodded and left. Weston sat and quickly began to remove the lids from the plates.
