Movement out of the window catches my focus.

The woman across the street is out wiping her car off one handed with a steaming mug in the other. Her dark hair is pulled up in a loose ponytail, and a snug knit sweater hugs her curves so much better than the coat she was wearingyesterday.

A grin tugs up my cheeks when I see her knock a huge chunk off against her chest making her jump back.

“What?” Reece ducks his head to follow my line of sight. “Ah. She’s a cutie, huh?”

I nod, fixating on her flushed cheeks as she drags her mittened arm down the hood of her Audi. “In a ‘girl next door’ kinda way. It’s refreshing.” I’m so used to dealing with actresses who are so concerned about how they’re perceived, it’s nice to see someone justliving.

“Have you ever thought about doing a rom-com?” Reece drops into the leather chair adjacent to mine, draping his leg over the arm.

“Not really.” I’m drawn into her personal theater as she walks away from her vehicle.

Setting her hot drink on the porch rail, she jumps into a drift near the steps and scoops up some of the wet snow into a ball. After placing that on the top of the deck, she grabs another, smaller to sit on the first.

“I think she heard you.” I take a sip of my own coffee while she adds a third clump to make a snowman about knee height.

“That’s adorable,” he chuckles. “I wonder why she’s up here by herself?”

Hmm. An interesting thought. “Maybe someone is coming to meet up with her?”

“Nah, she’s parked in the middle of the driveway. If she was expecting company, she would have stayed on one side or the other.” Reece flicks his wrist as if the observation was common knowledge.

“Mr. Sleuth, over here,” I mutter. But my curiosity is piqued. “Go chop more wood and ask her.”

His laughter follows him as he gets up and goes to the kitchen. “You go out there. I’d love to see you try and fit an ax into those manicured hands.” He grabs a bottle of water from the fridge. “On second thought, you might hurt yourself. Besides, you’re the one whosaid ‘no women’. Remember?” He twists the lid off and his Adam’s apple bobs as he swallows half the container.

Damn him. “Yea,” I say begrudgingly. “You win. Now, tell me about this idea you have?”

My hands poise over the keyboard, even as my eyes stray to watch her add a second snowman to her porch.

A family?

She definitely added breasts to the smaller one.

Then she takes a few steps away to grab another handful.

When she throws her newly made projectile at the larger form, I nearly dump my laptop off my thighs.

“What? Geez you’re jumpy.” Reece rolls his dark eyes and feints a smack from across the room.

“Look, dumbass.” I point out the window where she’s angrily throwing handfuls at her original creation.

His deep baritone laugh fills the large room. “Whoever that guy is, he fucked up.”

After she’s done, she stomps her way up the steps and then kicks the remains of the first snowman into the bushes.

With a satisfied smile, she picks up her mug.

I catch a glimpse of bright blue eyes before she goes back inside her cabin.

“She’s feisty,” I murmur, sitting back into my chair.

“She is. I wonder if she knew we were watching?” He scratches his short beard with a smirk. “I guess that’d be smart on her part, showing us how much she hates guys.”

My brows raise. “You mean the girl who thinks we’re a couple?”

“Good point. Okay, so what do you think happened to her?” His eyes unfocus.
