A huge smile spreads across my face at the notion of truly being one of them because I quite like the idea of being completely entrenched in this family. It’s a nice change from what I had back in Chicago. Even if I do think they’re nut-jobs, I have a fond appreciation for them.
Vi motions toward the door at the end of the hallway. “Us girls are going to go change in Dad’s office. You guys need to go hit the showers!”
I look over my shoulder at Roan and sort of wish he wouldn’t shower because I think his sweaty scent could be bottled up into a cologne.
I clear my throat and state, “So I hear you’re my date again.”
He lifts his brows victoriously. “I hear the same…It’s funny because it would appear that even your family wants us to be dating.”
I roll my eyes. “It’s not a date. It’s a setup.”
He bites his lip and looks down at my jersey. “Whatever you say, DeWalt.”
I frown at his bizarre reply and then Sloan grabs my arm to pull me down the hall.
As I depart, Roan calls out, “My name looks good on you, mooi.”
He winks a sexy wink and I turn around with a confused look on my face. “What’s he talking about?”
Sloan looks ahead at Vi and the other girls, who all erupt into laughter. “The back of your jersey says DEWALT.”
“It what?” I exclaim and then grab at it like a maniac.
All this time, I’ve been worried about the Harris Brothers interfering when, in reality, it is the Harris ladies that I should be keeping an eye on.
