His talented fingers became a whirlwind that I couldn’t keep up with. I slammed down on him brutally, and his nails dug into my back, a hiss escaping him.
“Sylas…fuck!”
“You’re right there… let it go… let it all go.”
Through his groans and curses, his eyes shone at me—the need, the understanding, the way he was right there with me.
Ecstasy tore through me and then I was convulsing fucking violently on him, so much so that he had to bind me to him with both arms, holding me through it.
I heard a curse from him, a moment before he came inside me, the warm sensation of him filling my ass sending me over the edge again.
He kissed me through it, swallowing some of my screams.
I collapsed against him and by the time I came down from it, I found him stroking my hair and gazing at me reverently.
“All right?”
“Perfect.”
He chuckled. “Very good.”
He shifted his weight then eased out of me, making the both of us grunt.
Then I felt his hand sweeping across my ass, the warmth of his magic there.
Off my look, he told me, “You went too hard, need a little soothing. And, yes, I know you can heal yourself, but why take the time?” He winked. “I’ve got you, little Wraith.” And then he spoke my own words from a little while ago back at me,“We work as one. You’re not alone.”
I beamed out at him, then he eased us under the covers.
As I turned into him, I ruffled his very mussed up hair. “This is what Lazriel calls yoursexiest hair look.”
“Oh, I’m well aware. He loves the mussed and ruffled look.”
“He loves a lot of things about our foursome,” I murmured, sinking into him, an air of melancholia settling over us all too quickly.
Sylas tightened his hold around me. “He’ll withstand this.”
“I’m worried about what it will take him to do that.”
“It’s Victor who should be worried.”
“You think?”
“He’s obsessed, very personally invested in that obsession too. Lazriel isn’t. And our boy has a lot to hold onto. Don’t forget that he can endure a great deal—his Graverun antics are a prime example—and things that he shouldn’t technically be able to. As for the mental and emotional toll… Lazriel has evolved. He has the tools to hold on until we can reach him. And the love between all four of us, what we have, means everything to him. That’s a fuck of a lot to hold onto. He won’t allow anything to compromise that for him, least of all that deranged Ancient.”
His reassurance, the sheer confidence in his words actually managed to pull me back from the edge where my terror for Lazriel was concerned.
Thatwashow Lazriel operated.
I guess I’d just… my fear for him had gotten the best of me.
“Yeah, you’re right. He’ll make it through this. And he’ll break Victor in the process.”
“He’ll be back with us before we know it, then all of this will just be a fading nightmare.”
I nodded, then rested my head against his.
And it wasn’t long before sleep took us both.
