“Sylas will not be forsaken,” Cornelius spoke, eyeing me pointedly. Reassuringly.

Lucian stroked the tie of his three-piece checked black suit. “I will run this by Ryker as soon as he returns from the Valley of the Dead assessment with Gabriel.”

“Him agreeing to this will make drawing out the black magic from Morien and company even more vital,” Nyx pointed out. “We need to speed up our work on the solution.”

Kai nodded. “We’ll see to it.”

Cornelius came to me. “I’ll remain with you working on the elixir for Darethor. Having him functioning at full capacity will prove imperative once this is seen to and the Dark Fae Realm begins stabilizing. He’ll need to work hard on re-establishing its reputation also.Thrynewill be arriving shortly, yes?”

I smiled. Of course he was that clued in. He had eyes everywhere, even beyond the scope of hisunofficialalliance with The Shadowed.

“Any moment, yeah.”

“Good. In the meantime, show me where you are working.”

As Kai, Nyx, and Lucian headed back into Kai’s lab, I led Cornelius around the house on Solumira grounds. I’d set up my stuff close to the current entrance to the Rifted Cradle where the home to our foursome and Ketheron had been created. A home we’d be able to move into once this nightmare was over and done with. Where we could be safe, loved, and happy, and raise this baby.

I smiled as Sylas’ words when we’d first laid eyes on the majestic castle played on my mind.

“Our home. This is it.”

The emotion in it, the raw statement of absolute fact.

Mirroring what we’d all felt.

And what we were now all fighting for.

That home didn’t work without him.

It wouldn’t have to.

We’d bring him back to us.

And we’d finally end this thing.

Well, this wasn’t good.

It took me major effort just to open my eyes fully.

Even then, as I managed it, an unnatural weariness permeated every part of me, willing me to slip back into sleep.

Willing me to be still.

A clear result of that Light Fae dust infused with Celestial power that I recalled Gregor infecting me with.

Somnoriaas it was commonly known.

An incapacitant.

One very effective on the likes of me, wherein supreme concentration and focus were required in order to wield my power—both successfullyandsafely. Especially with the death energy aspect factored in.

And who would know that better than my psychopath of a father.

I had no doubt he’d had it formulated especially for me.
