“Dinnae stop,” he spoke hoarsely. Yvaine marveled in his strength as he grew rock solid in her hands. His body became hotter too, and he tossed his head back as a sigh escaped his lips.

His hands found her breasts, and he flickered his fingers over her nipples till they grew taut and hurt a little. She had never felt searing pleasure like this, and she knew she would want it forever.

Yvaine lay back when he moved again and brought her legs around his waist. He stroked her chin as he fitted his body into hers. They both gasped when his length impaled her. Yvaine’s body sheathed him with ease and drew another groan from Arran’s lips.

“I will lose meself in ye,” he said just before he pulled out to the tip and thrust fully into her again. “Ye make me lose control!”

“Ye do the same to me,” she whispered just before their lips locked in another passionate kiss that stoked the flames of her hunger for him higher.

They both gave into their passion and clung to each other like they needed each other to survive. Yvaine was lost in the web of passion surrounding them. Each time he filled her with his strokes, she came alive.

Their bodies stayed as one as the flames in the fireplace burned out. Their lovemaking was unending, and Yvaine lost track of how many times she cried out from completion. She would never forget the bliss of tonight.

It was like he mended her soul and made her complete. They were meant to be, and she hoped for more nights like this when she finally sighed and dozed off in his arms.

Arran did not stop his kisses and caresses till she was fast asleep in his arms, all of her worries and fears forgotten in that perfect moment.

Neither of them was aware of the impending doom lurking closer than ever in the blanket of the night’s covering.

Duncan arrived at MacGregor the next morning, and Arran was outside to greet him.

“Welcome,” he said to Duncan as they shook hands, hugged then both laughed. He greeted Duncan’s wife Amelia next and kissed her outstretched hand as she curtsied. “Ye look beautiful as always, me lady.”

“Thank you, Arran,” Amelia answered him with a beaming smile.

“Lily…” Arran greeted next then moved to hug Lily and shake hands with her husband, Killian. Killian’s sister Niamh joined in the visit, and Arran was pleased to have all of them visit his castle for the first time.

“I havenae seen Yvaine anywhere,” her maither, Elspeth, called after Arran hugged her. She eyed him suspiciously, and he laughed with excitement when she pouted little and added, “I do hope ye have taken good care of my little girl, Arran. If nay, ye will have me to contend with and nay just Duncan.”

“I am dedicated to carin’ for Yvaine. She is my life,” he replied to Elspeth, and everyone celebrated with another fulfilled laugh just before Yvaine came rushing out of the keep to join them at the drawbridge.

“Mama…Braither,” she called in a chirpy tone and flung her arms around her mother first. “Heavens I have missed all of ye,” she whispered, and Arran stepped aside to watch her hug all of them.

Yvaine’s bright smile comforted him when she hugged Lily then Killian. When she finally turned to look at him again, her cheeks glowed with a rosy flush.

Images of their passionate night came to Arran’s mind as he returned her smile with a hearty beam. She came to his side and took his hand in hers, linking their fingers.

Arran inhaled the scent of roses on her skin and couldn’t stop himself from angling his head to look at her.

“I am so excited to have ye all here,” she was saying to her family while his heart did a crazy dive. He was lost in her, and there was no hiding it this time. The way his friends were staring at him told Arran that they also noticed the quickening attraction between him and Yvaine.

“How has life in MacGregor been?” he heard Lily ask Yvaine as she latched onto Yvaine’s side.

The women all walked ahead, heading for the first landing, and Arran fell behind to join Duncan and Killian.

“They have missed Yvaine,” Duncan said as he faced Arran with a smile. “And I have heard of all yer troubles me friend from the letter ye sent me. Killian and I are here to help ye with anythin’ ye might need.”

There was only one pressing issue that Arran knew he had to handle immediately.Keeping Yvaine safe.It was why he had asked his friend’s help and invited him over to MacGregor.

Killian nodded before he voiced his thoughts. “What do ye need us to help ye with?”

Arran drew in a deep breath. “Aye, and we must discuss at once as this matter is pressin’. It involves keepin’ me wife safe. There have been numerous attempts to kidnap her recently, and I worry for her safety. We were also shot at durin’ our time alone ridin’ and I suspect it is the same culprit.”

Duncan’s lips formed a grim line, and from the look in his eyes, Arran could tell what he was thinking before he said anything.

“When me wife first arrived my clan, the same thin’ happened to her. There were some attempts to kill her because they believed she was cursed.”
