"Yes."
He grabs the tissue box and cleans me up.
"Penny for your thoughts?" He lays beside me and traces patterns on my stomach.
I smile. "Just thinking about everything." I kiss his chest. "From that equipment room blackmail to here."
"Best blackmail of my life." His laugh rumbles under my ear. "Though I still say you threw yourself at me first."
"Excuse me?" I prop up to look at him. "Pretty sure you were the one following me around at parties."
"Protecting you from bad decisions."
"Being a possessive stalker, you mean."
He rolls us so I'm under him again. "Speaking of possession..."
His mouth finds that spot on my neck that drives me crazy.
"Knox," I gasp as his hands wander. "We should talk about... about what happens now."
"Now?" He kisses lower. "Now I show you exactly how many ways I can make you fall apart."
"I'm serious." But my body arches into his touch. "What if... what if you get bored once you're not chasing me anymore?"
He stills, then moves back up to meet my eyes. "Is that what you're worried about?"
I nod, feeling vulnerable. "The thrill of the chase and all that..."
"Kennedy." He frames my face with his hands. "I've been chasing you since that first party. Will probably chase you for the rest of our lives. Not because it's thrilling, but because you're you. Because loving you makes me better. Because every day I find new reasons to fall harder."
Tears prick my eyes. "Promise?"
"Promise." He kisses me softly. "Though I have to say... watching you play perfect daughter while knowing you're mine? That thrill never gets old."
I laugh against his mouth. "Mr. Thompson, how scandalous."
"You love it." His hands slide lower. "Love driving me crazy in public. Love knowing what we do in private."
"Maybe." I wrap my legs around his waist. "Show me again?"
His growl of response sends heat through my blood.
"Again?" he murmurs as he kisses down my body.
"Knox."
"Say it again." His mouth traces patterns on my skin. "Say my name like that."
So I do.
Say his name like a prayer.
Say it like a promise.
Say it like forever.
Because that's what this is now. Not just tonight or tomorrow or next week.
