“Will we just be playing parts or am I expected to follow through?” Kyler swallowed. He wasn’t sure what answer he wanted.

Gavin stopped their walk. “I’ll never make you do anything you’re uncomfortable with.”

“Then sleep it is. Tonight at least.” But… He’d never slept in a bed before. Captain Vex never allowed it. Kyler had only ever slept against hard surfaces. Very rarely he had the luxury of a hammock. Not sure he’d even like sleeping in a bed, Kyler pushed against Gavin’s chest to stand on his own feet. “I’ll sleep on the floor, then we can make it look like—”

“That won’t work. Damon will be on the perch outside my window soon to guard my room. You must be in my bed.”

They were in the prince’s bedroom chambers now. The enormous bed was daunting. Cream-colored silk covered the mattress. Book shelves lined the walls.

Kyler swallowed, trying to calm his nerves. An entire night next to the prince. “I talk in my sleep. According to the crew, anyway. I never know what I’ve been saying, but they enjoy making fun of me for it. I’ll be a horrible bed partner.”

“I’ve had worse.” Prince Gavin shed his shirt. His smooth muscled chest was unmarred by scars. Then he worked on his pants, but stopped before dropping them. He strolled to the wardrobe and pulled out a violet silk robe. He shrugged it on and tied the belt before the pants went to the floor, then he turned back to Kyler.

Gavin was a feast for the eyes. Violet silk hugged his thick arms. The top of the robe spilled open, showing a deep V of bare chest down to the tied silk belt at his waist. The sapphire necklace seemed to blink as he moved. He ran a hand through his dark hair, tousling it, a few loose waves wound around his horns.

“I usually sleep naked.”

“I’ve seen too much of you for you to be shy now.” Kyler couldn’t help the tease. He’d seen every delectable inch of the dragon shifter.

Just like in the tavern, the haze of Kyler’s desire rose from his skin, seeking his target. He held back a groan, wishing for all the world to know how to make the damned haze stop from rising. But like at the tavern, Gavin didn’t react. The necklace truly was a wonder.

The soft, leather sound of dragon wings caught Kyler’s attention. The sheer curtains fluttered at the window, but a mass of dragon bulk blocked the view of the gardens.

“Does he ever sleep?”

Gavin nodded toward Damon. “That is how he sleeps. In dragon form at my window.” He pulled Kyler into an embrace. “Now that Damon’s here, we best make a show of it,” he whispered, then threw Kyler onto the bed.

Kyler yelped as he landed.

“Moan for me, Kyler.” Gavin stood over him, hand pressed to the wall.

Heart pounding, Kyler followed the instructions. Watched as Gavin’s pupils blew wide. Kyler waited for the next command.Neededthe next command. Gavin’s tongue darted across his lips, his cock tented the robe. Kyler couldn’t take his eyes off the silk clad dragon in glorious human form. Biceps flexed as Gavin pushed away from the wall.

“You look perfect.” Gavin’s thick voice rumbled.

Fuck. Me.Kyler swallowed back the words. The prince didn’t actually want him. This was all for show. The haze swirled through the room, but Gavin still wasn’t affected, much to Kyler’s relief.

Gavin laid next to him, but gave him space. Kyler wished he wasn’t so far away, but didn’t dare reach for his hand. His haze swam so thickly in the air.

“Again,” Gavin whispered.

Kyler gladly made the sound, drawing it out, letting it rumble in his chest. He gripped the silk bedclothes, needing something to hold on to. They were soft and smooth, but almost too warm to be comfortable. He moaned again, unasked, giving it a little gasp at the end. Kyler couldn’t help the little wiggle his body did when he made the sound.

“We don’t have to fake this.” Kyler’s voice was rough. He thought he’d melt into the mattress. It was so hot in the room. Hot in the bed. Next to Gavin.

Leaning on his side, Gavin’s face was so close to his now. Breath sweet like the wine they drank with their meal. He buried his hands in Kyler’s hair and pressed their lips together.

Fire erupted under Kyler’s skin. While he let men use his body for coin, he’d never kissed anyone. Never sought his own pleasure with another person. He didn’t want the kiss to stop. He grasped Gavin’s huge forearms, wanting him closer. Gavin’s wine kisses were like an explosion of energy.

Breaking for air, the prince said, “Tell me if you want me to stop.”

All Kyler could do was nod. He pulled the man back down by his horns.

Gavin straddled him, pinning him to the bed. The weight felt right, unlike anything before. Kisses trailed down his neck. Gavin played at the fastenings of Kyler’s shirt.

Kyler hurried to help take it off, but Gavin ripped it open.

“Now I’ll need a new one.” Kyler pretended to pout, but that ended quickly when Gavin licked a nipple. “Oh!” Kyler shut his eyes, enjoying the soft drag of Gavin’s tongue over his skin. The pinch and pull of the prince’s teeth. The gentle scrape of horn when he adjusted his head.
